This is one of those simple appetizers that tastes pretty yummy. Make sure you take the puff pastry out ahead of time so it can thaw in the refrigerator.
1 package puff pastry
1 wheel of brie
1 small package slivered almonds
1/4 cup rasberry jam
cayenne pepper
egg
Roll out the pastry and take brie out of package. Mix the rasberry jam with a little cayenne to give it a little kick. Cut the brie wheel in half and layer the jam and then the almonds. Put the top back on the brie. Place pastry over the top of the brie, wrap it up, tucking the ends underneath. I end up with too much pastry on the bottom, so take some off and use a cutter to make a design to place over top. Brush the top with mixed up egg and place in 400 degree oven for 20-25 minutes. Let it cool 5 minutes before cutting into it.
Obviously, I didn’t wait. Less oozing out all over the place if you let it cool a little. 🙂
I love brie and this looks divine. I will have to remember this recipe the next time we have a party. Looks like a crowd pleaser.
