This is going to be a bit of a Christmas present to my readers with little ones, but I know it won’t work for everyone. Unfortunately, I have limits on my abilities. Sad, but oh, so very true!
I will be giving away a Christmas outfit, designed and made by me, for a little girl or boy. Now, here is where my limitations come into play. I have little kids, so I know how to make stuff for little kids. However…if you have older kids, I’m not sure this would be their cup of tea. They might just turn up their nose at a cutesy Christmas/Holiday outfit. Am I right?? This pretty much limits me to making an outfit from newborn to early grade-school. Sorry!
If you don’t have little kids but have a young niece or nephew, grandchild, godchild, ect. I can make them an outfit, but I do need measurements. As for the type of outfit, a girl’s outfit tends to be more elaborate than a boy’s outfit. That’s just the way it is…it is hard to design for boys.
My other limitation is that I don’t currently have a Serger (hint, hint Santa!) and my edges won’t be quite as finished as a ready to wear outfit. Don’t worry, you can still wash it and dry it (I do…and they don’t fall apart…trust me!), it is just that you may find the inside edges don’t look quite as nice as store bought.
Now, how do you win such fabulousness?? Just leave me a comment in this post by November 15, and describe your favorite types of outfits for your little ones! It will give me some direction if you win. 🙂 You can discuss this on your blog and link here, but it isn’t required. I’m not doing this to drive traffic to my site. I just want to make something for all my nice commenters. My little bit of giving for the holidays!
I will print the comments off and have the urchins do battle to the death (kidding!) to determine who gets to pick out a name. The winner of their death match will choose the winner of the outfit. Then I will announce the winner on my blog and e-mail them to get measurements.
The winner will have to be nice and patient with me, since it will take a few weeks to sew up the creation. The sooner I get measurements, the better! I was planning to do it in a Christmas themed type of fabric (you know, snowmen, Santa, it may even contain the politically incorrect words “Merry Christmas”), so if you win and want something more generic, or even Hanukkah inspired, I can do that. Just let me know…I’m flexible.
Good luck…post a comment…and cross your fingers and toes. 🙂
ME! ME! PICK ME!!! I would love anything you created. And so would Vienne. She is pretty girly so anything that makes her look like a girl, she will love. A dress or skirt, ruffles, embellishments. Maybe softer farics so she could wear it too school. Is that too demanding? I would be excited for anyone who wins. What a great contest, Stacey.
Oh, wow! I thought I was going to have to sew something to win the contest!
I love all the stuff you make. That stack of fabric you showed before lets me know that we sort of have the same tastes in that area. My boys, of course, typically dress in denim or camo 🙂 But when I choose their clothes for dressy occasions, I like them to wear something that’s mostly classic with a touch of fun. If I won you’d definitely be sewing for Nicky, as he rarely gets new stuff all his own.
This is a great idea! Of course, I hope I win, but I’ll be so excited for whoever wins!
Oh my goodness, I feel like it should go to one of the beautiful girls out there, but I love your stuff, so can’t help entering my little Henry in this, too. I LOVE rough-looking appliques, sort of the mini boden type–trucks! sharks! fish! monkeys! bears! other animals! you get the idea.
Such a lovely contest, you are so sweet.
OH MY GOODNESS! Stacy, I am sooo excited, you’re awesome!! Do you accept bribes to increase my chance of winning? 😉 I’ve loved every single outfit you’ve shared with us, so I’m sure I’d be happy with any of your creations. Obviously it’d be for Nadia! and honestly, she has girly-girl and tom-girl sides to her, so either way works. I love green and blue, and I love fun textures. Oooh, I’m so excited!
Oh… count me in!!!
I’ve thought all of the things you’ve made have been gorgeous.
When I think of the clothing that Zoe has now… usually her outfits consist of something in a solid color and then something in a pattern with the same color in it. Like… her shirt might be brown, and then the pants are a tiny floral pattern with brown in it. Or we have a blue jumper that she wears with polka dot shirt and tights.
I feel a little guilty in even entering since I won the PhotoBook – but I simply cannot pass up an opportunity to possibly get a Stacy original.
My girls LOVE skirts or dresses. That is pretty much all I can get them to put on right now. We are pretty much outfitted by Old Navy with a little Target thrown in. Cheap, cute. And anything brown and pink. Although that is Mommy’s preference, the girls would pick purple and pink every time! Addie has a little retro Old Navy wardrobe right now, circa 2005 – she has so many hand-me-downs from Em. She would really like some ruffly little skirt that Emma can’t say “that was mine when I was little, like you!”
So fun! Thanks for doing these, Stacy. I need to come up with a good contest, something I could give away. Hmmm…will think on that.
Wow! I cannot pass up the chance to win a Stacy original. Fancy wintery girly girl would be so much fun. Even though it would be hard to pick one of my girls if I won, I’d have to go with Luna. She’s had a lot of hand me downs, so a Stacy original would do some making up! 🙂
You are amazing ! I am not entering the contest as I am certain I would never let my kids wear the clothes for fear they would ruin them !! My two are VERY dirty ! They play hard and I am happy for them to do so ! As a result, most of their jeans have holes in the knees ( as do their knees ! ) But I wanted to leave a comment because I think this is such a neat thing you are doing ! I’m going to do a little post about it on my blog just because I REALL REALLY like your blog ! I’ve already mentioned you once as one of my favorite photographers … That post is titled The First Answers, I mentioned you at the end !
Great a contest. I love to win things. I got this link from Melody (thanks girl). I’ve got two cute boys (see Melody’s blog) that could use some fun fall clothes. Either one would be a great model. I love things that have a bit of “funk” to them. If we could tie dressy, funky and christmas together it would be quite a feat. I’m thinking of Justin Timberlake’s cute little outfit on his HBO special. Who knows, I dont sew, so anything would really impress me. Hope to hear from you soon. Dawn
Wow! What a great giveaway!
My youngest girl loves anything that’s girlie. Being the youngest of three girls, something made just for her and not a hand-me down would be very exciting!
Now, if I blog about this, then it may lessen my chances. hmmm. Quite a dilemma. OK, fine, I’ll blog about it. Just ‘cuz I like you so much 🙂
what an awesome, generous giveaway! 🙂 i’ve loved everything i’ve seen that you’ve made. dresses and skirts are new favorites of ava.
i will be adding this to my contest page for sure. 🙂
thanks, stacy.
Love your creations! This is exciting. My 7-month-old daughter is chubby, fiery, kooky, and has a head of thick dark hair. I love her in primary colors that match her personality, and she likes to be able to move around in her clothes. We live in New Orleans, and I notice kids here tend toward bohemian, rough-and-tumble clothes more than proper frilly ones. Thanks!
Oh, I would love to win a holiday outfit for Shaelyn. She’s my youngest daughter who we adopted from China. She loves purple and loves anything fancy and soft. She likes to dress up and look “beautiful” This is a great giveaway. Thanks! I heard about you through Bonnie’s blog.
I have a 21-month old daughter and I would love to dress her up in something adorable for the holidays. Count me in!
What a generous idea! I don’t have any kids, but Lil Girl would love something, I’m sure. As for what she likes, well she’s got a big head, so she likes anything that fits over her head but doesn’t swim on the rest of her. And she wore a dress with Mary Janes the other day, and I almost swooned. And since it’s Christmas-y, I don’t have to worry about getting her more PINK. (We’re soo over pink!)
Wow – this is a great giveaway. I have a little guy who would look great in something special – although I think he looks cute in almost anything or nothing but a diaper!!
I’d love to win an outfit for my 20 month old boy. He really looks good in colors such as orange, red, and green.
Oh, I must enter, how exciting! Ok, not that we need any more clothes, but who really does? So what do we like? I prefer pants on Kelly over skirts or dresses. For either little one, (not sure who’d get picked) I love stripes and plaids. I think that snowman/moose/reindeer/snowflake or winter themed is a better idea so it would get more wear. Santa/Christmas motif has to be packed away too soon. If I won, I’d love to have the outift worn all winter long. A Stacy original is too good to be worn for holiday season only 😉
How very cool of you.
I love hand crafted clothes for my kids. 🙂 They are our favourites… LOL sadly though no-one in our immediate family can sew or knit so they are far and few between.
My girl loves her dresses and skirts and well my boy loves everything. I’m sure whatever you create for the lucky winner will be beautiful.
My son is almost 16 months old. I typically don’t dress him in anything cutesy…just cute! Does that make sense? I typically put him in neutral colors as well as reds and blues. I love, love, love him in earthy colors. He’s got some piercing blue eyes and platinum blonde hair, so anything that makes his those features POP that much more is great. Thanks for the great giveaway!
What a wonderful gift! I wish I was that sewing talented. Lately I’ve been feeling good as I just got the hang of hemming pants correctly. 🙂
W.W. is 2 but he’s the size of a 4 year old as he wears 4T and 5T clothing right now. Monster trucks, firetrucks, and construction vehicles are his current favorites. When he was a shirt with one of those vehicles he goes around pointing it out to everyone he’s really cute. So of course, CARS ranks up there too with most popular. Mater being the top choice there.
Thanks for offering the giveaway!
Ok ! You convinced me … I’ll enter ! But here’s a little “challenge” for you ! Christmas in Australia (where we live) is in the middle of SUMMER ! So … you’d have to put on your thinking cap to come up with a summer Christmas outfit ! My Alia loved sundresses … and skirts … so that would be the way to go. NOT THAT I’M SAYING I SHOULD WIN ! But, just if you do chose us, it’ll be a Christmas outfit with a twist !! 🙂
I’m going to send you an email too but wanted to post here for your awesome contest!!!!
: ) Beth
I love those footie (footsie?) pajamas that cover kids from neck to toe. They’re so ideal for winter!
me me me! i have an adorable little boy who is 18months old. he is a classic style boy…but a huge hockey junkie already. love the brown tones on him…he is a classic toe head!
thanks for doing this…
you’re blog is generous already…and now this!
