Last Saturday was the first big snowfall, accumulation wise, of the winter. This is an exciting time for little ones. The act of being outside as the snow falls on you is a bit of winter magic that makes the cold so much more bearable (though not enjoyable…don’t get me wrong!). Of course, the kids wanted to go out and play in the snow as it was starting to come down…
This is great!
It’s kinda cold out here…
Dude, this sucks…I’m cold. I’m going inside to watch cartoons!
Ah, hot chocolate! Sweet nectar of the gods. 😀
This was their first taste of hot chocolate. Oh, how they loved it! I made it with milk and added whipped cream on top…I think Anya had at least 3 cups of this wondrous concoction. When Kailan unwisely abandoned his half finished “chocolate cream” to watch cartoons, Anya slyly stole over to his side of the table. You need to closely guard your “chocolate cream” if Anya is anywhere about. 😉
We now have about 10-12 inches on the ground after two rounds of snow. Another is supposed to hit us again today. After a brown Christmas last year, I think we may actually have a white Christmas again. WhooHoo!
Love love the ones with the tree in the background. Just gorgeous. It looks like a lot of fun from here.
How funny is that! Sometimes it’s just too cold out! Zane had a breakdown yesterday trying to take him out in the snow.
The angle on the hot chocolate shots is great. The lights just glow in the background.
I am SO with Anya. I stayed outside for maybe 5 minutes, as a kid, and I was ready for the hot chocolate! She’s too cute!
What an exciting day! You’re right in that there’s nothing like being out when the snow is falling–well, nothing except that hot chocolate that follows!!
Stellar shots, of course!

I’m jealous of your snow. We haven’t seen the first flake! 🙁
Lovely photos. The tree is especially beautiful.
We played out in the snow yesterday, too. Mom gave in to the cold first, bringing Will in too, but Lauren stayed for awhile, then came in for her chocolate creme.
Stacy, beautiful pictures again. It is suppose to snow here 3 to 5 inches! Hurray.
Great photos! The colors are so vivid. I love the contrast of the snow against the red play equipment and the pink cheeks. The blurr of the snow sets the scene! Also love the ‘mug shots’ with the tree in the background.
Brilliant, as always!
Ahhh a girl after my own heart. Nothing better than a cup of hot chocolate with a whole whack of whipped cream on top!
Love the tree twinkling in the background of your shots!
That photo on Anya with her “chocolate cream” and the tree glowing in the background…gorgeous!! So it sounds like the hot chocolate was a hit even if the snow wasn’t! Too funny. I miss snow – but then again, I never get to see it, so I’ve romanticized it!
Man I miss white Christmases. I still drink choco creme, though – even when it is 65 degrees out! 🙂
I love the photos…the first snow fall one is awesome!
Looks like a good time was had by all!
Thanks everyone! That tree is our little tree up in the eat-in dining area. It has all the special ornaments on it. 🙂
Last Christmas wasn’t white at all so I am looking forward to the snow! I don’t spend a lot of time in it but it’s pretty to look at!
Your pictures are wonderful – the looks on your children’s faces sipping hot cocoa are priceless :).

Wonderful pictures! Wow, 10 to 12 inches, I can’t even imagine that much snow.
Gorgeous photos… as usual. I can’t even begin to say which of the set is my favorite. I think I might need some hot chocolate now!
I love this post !! The snow photos are GREAT !! I am going to do a post about people’s Christmas traditions that I have seen in blog land and I was wondering if I could post that picture of Anya drinking her hot chocolate in that post ? I would of course, link it back to your site !! Just wanted to ask before I used it … and if you don’t want me to, I soooo won’t be offended.
I love all of those photos. Just beautiful.
Oh! We just had our first snow too. I just love it! And hot chocolate too! :o)
Great Photos!
Mmm, hot chocolate after being out in the snow ~ I kinda/sorta miss that! Now that I live in the deep south, it was hot enough yesterday to wear shorts and even sweat if standing in direct sunlight.
Gorgeous pictures!
My daughter discovered hot chocolate this year and is hooked!
Wow! Those photos are amazing. You could make Christmas cards out of those or really cute hot chocolate ads.
come by my blog and light a candle for Melody, our wrapped emotions hero.

oh how precious are they, i love snow, we got some this week too but it was just wet and nasty
These photos are dreamy. I’m missing our mountain snow…it’s 80 degrees F here today…same state…lower latitude than last Christmas.
I love how Anya stole the hot cocoa…a girl after my own heart. The shot and caption of Kai walking away is priceless. 🙂
Thanks for hanging with WE.
Above that should be “lower altitude”. oops
