Well, we are done with round one – the friends – and over the next week it will be round two – the families.
One thing that would be nice, is if we could schedule Old Man Winter to keep his grumpy self under covers until after the holidays. I spent about 2.5-3 hours this afternoon clutching my steering wheel trying to keep the car on the road. Thank goodness for 4-wheel drive! Did I mention that my check engine light came on about 2 miles into the drive?? Ugh.
I was the slow momma on the road, carrying my precious cargo, and going a safe driving speed for the nearly white-out conditions, at times. Then, there would be a minivan that would pass me going 10 miles over the speed limit, closely followed by one on of those tiny cars that weigh about as much as my left thigh. Apparently they didn’t realize how HORRIBLE the roads were…or they were just in a hurry. Good idea…
When we were about an hour or so from home, the accidents started to pile up and at one point we saw 4-5 EMT vehicles waiting on an on-ramp to the interstate. We imagined that they were just waiting to be called out to the scene of an accident, not unlike one we had just passed where a person was on a stretcher being put into a waiting ambulance. Then, I started going even slower. We made it home safe and sound, with only one potty break.
All in all, we had a great weekend. On Friday night we hosted a party for some friends, and we regaled in Christmas cheer. I took lots of pictures of this little one…don’t you just want to pinch her little cheeks??
Then on Saturday we drove to my hometown to have a holiday get-together with my old neighbors/family/friends. It’s funny, since I think of them as family, but they aren’t. They are relations of my relations, but since I grew up with everyone, they are pretty much family.
It was at my friend’s house and I got to see her little guy, Baby Boy T., who is doing pretty well right now. I got to hold him a lot, so that was nice. 🙂 He’s still a little peanut, and a somber young lad.
Then her hubby got her another baby for Christmas, Remington (Remi), who is too adorable:
That was our weekend. A bit of running around and running ragged. Tomorrow we will be hosting one side of my family at our house, so I better get to bed and rest up!
Yikes to the nasty weather you were out in–so glad y’all made it home safely!
Beautiful pictures, sweet babies, precious memories.
~~Happy Holidays to You and Yours 🙂
That is why I can settle for very little winter weather in S. Texas. Although, it’s chilly here now, no ice. Stay safe and have fun celebrating.
I feel your pain, although we got home before it started to snow on Saturday. It sounds like you’re in the middle of a tiring but fun week. Enjoy yourself!
Wow! Glad you made it everywhere safely! We hit sheets of ice on the road, last night, and it was pretty scary. eek!
LOVE the new puppy. What a cutie.
Merry Christmas!
sounds like fun but glad you made it home OK…no fun driving with kids in bad weather. Love your shots as usual! Beautiful
Have a wonderful Christmas!
Great shots – and glad to hear that everyone made it home safely! Merry Christmas!
I think I miss the snow…but then I hear tales like this and it makes me grateful for mild Texas winters. My goodness. I am so glad to hear Baby T is still doing well!
