Ah, winter! The season where us northerners hibernate in our homes all winter long and generally don’t go outside unless there is fresh powder on the ground. It’s pretty then. After a few days it isn’t as pretty and charming…it’s just cold, cold, COLD! Right now it is rather brisk in the outdoors. The kind of temperatures where your nose hairs and eyelashes freeze during the 5 seconds it takes you to walk from the parking ramp to the stairwell. It is rather refreshing, though. It clears the lungs, because I hear that bacteria thrive in warmth, so they must wither and die when you breathe in sub-zero temps. Refreshing…yeah, that’s just what it is.
I must apologize to our Aussie participants in choosing to highlight a season past for them. I’m just bitter about them swimming in their pools and playing in their parks and going to the beach. Very, very bitter. 😉
Since it appears that hell hath frozen over, I haven’t gotten outside to take winter pictures this week. This means you are subjected to other pictures from some past photo ops in the snow.
Walking in the snow is hard, man!
What do you mean you won’t carry me back to the house??
Posing nicely for his mommy 🙂
What kind of winter scenes do you have today?
i love the second one where it’s all white except for their little coat colors. we don’t have any winter scenes here in the southern us either. i’ll have to see what i can rummage up to fit the theme.
i’m cold just thinking about this one 🙂

Glad to see I’m not the only one up to my neck in snow! 🙂 I love the vibrant colours against the whiteness of the snow – fantastic.
Here is mine…

Wonderful photos Stacy! Oh, how I remember those days of everything feeling as if it froze when I stepped out into the Winter cold during my teen and college years. No snow here, but I’m going to post an older South Dakota photo tomorrow.
I’ll be back!
[…] But do make sure to stop over to Stacy’s to see everyone else’s winter wonderland shots. […]

Ah, winter! Definitely short on snow here this year on the coast of CT, and that is FINE with me!
Here’s my take on winter, in the absence of snow!

Love the one of Kai. He’s cooperating so well.

It hasn’t snowed much here so I don’t have any pics of the kids playing in it yet. But I took them for a walk yesterday, not realizing how cold it was, so I put up a picture of my little one all bundled up.
here’s mine:

I really love that second shot, Stacy.
It’s going to be too cold to play in the snow here this weekend… http://lunaandfoo.blogspot.com/2008/01/theme-thursday-winter.html
It’s just not winter without at least a bit o’ snow!
~~
I remember those frozen eyelashes day…so well. It kinda stinks, but makes for such pretty photos…all the fun colors against the white!
I didn’t have time to go back in the “archives” to find one for this one, and I figured that nobody who lives where “hell hath frozen over” wants to see anymore of “our” version of winter. But I have a little Good Fortune contest going on for anybody who knows our little family.
So fun! It looks like they were having a great time playing in the snow — there is certainly no better winter activity than that! Too bad it takes forever to get so bundled up!

I’m jealous of the swimming pools! We haven’t had a ton of snow but cold…for sure!

Wow! You sure have a lot of snow there! We have to drive about 3-4 hours to see it here! So, I can relate to the Aussies, as we’ve had about 70-80s degrees days here. Looks refreshing though!
Here’s my take on winter…..

Mine is finally up!
http://piercebabyproject.blogspot.com/2008/01/theme-thursday-winter.html
Mine’s not up yet! The reason, well it’s snowing today – and school’s where called off – at least for my preschooler, so time has been limited – however we did get outside, and I got some shots – I cant wait to load them up and see what I got! 🙂
Anyway, stay tuned tonight, hopefully I got some great ones! 😀
I LOVED yours, and I agree that SNOW is the ONLY reason to love winter!
Beautiful shots! What fun.
Here’s my snow shot:

[…] Theme Thursday – Snow Posted on January 17, 2008 by Jenny This week’s theme is winter. I was at a bit of a loss, since we’ve had such warm weather lately and there was no snow. I had a creative interpretation of the theme that I was going to use. But then, look what it did outside today! Certainly something I only enjoy for the photo op. * * * * * * […]
I love the track in the snow on the second one.
The weather decided to co-operate for this week’s theme here today!
I looooooooooooove the second photo !
Now, normally I wouldn’t let a little thing like “it not being winter here” stop me from participating ! This week was no different. Why then, is there no post from me ? I FORGOT ! I can’t believe it ! It’s Friday here and I didn’t even think about my TT all week ! It’s been THAT kind of week !! Maybe I will do something anyway, a day late … I’ll let you know ! 🙂
Mine is not very wintry. Theme Thursday
I’m back !! Here’s mine … Winter?
Here is my addition to TT. Glad it was something that i’ve taken pics of recently! I haven’t been out as often as I’d like as of late.
http://www.whatitdonb.blogspot.com
It snowed a significant amount today for Northern Virginia. I had trouble deciding but settled on this photo… http://flickr.com/photos/divrchk/2200778422/ The can’t make you sick, can it? Ahhhhh pollution and global warming…
My TT addition isn’t the best but I wanted to keep participating.

I finally got some wintery photos!

[…] Check out the other Theme Thursday participants on The Land of KA. […]
I’m late on this one, but for a while there, I didn’t think that I’d have a winter scene to post with. It actually finally snowed here in Atlanta! http://www.sallad.net/blog/2008/01/17/theme-thursday-winter/
Your pictures look great. I’m jealous of how deep the snow is. It looks like so much fun!
Thanks everyone for the compliments and for participating! 🙂
Well mine is finally up! 😀
I had to wait until we got to go sledding – Zachary and Aubrey had a BLAST – so we had to use those pictures 😉
So, now I have a question – how do you get “creative” or learn to be creative with your pictures? I LOVE the off looks of each picture – or the “not normal” if that makes sense?
I know it’s a process, is there a book that gives you like tasks to do, so you learn to look for the “not so original?” I mean I love the original dont get me wrong, they are fun and when they are the kids – LOL that’s even better – but I LOVE other kinds of stuff too, like today I saw a picture of the kids boots, I LOVED that – not “traditional” and was so unique…so how do you LEARN to do that?
Or can you? I have been “searching” for the best shots, by looking though the view finder, all around to get a good shot, or see what looks the best thought here ect, but ugh not sure?!
I would love advice!
Life didn’t permit me to get a photo edited and posted for TT.
I had to comment on the crisp snow shots and brilliant color. And you DIDN’T carry her back? 🙂
See ya next Thursday.
[…] Living in the valley in central New Mexico, we don’t see a lot of snow. When Stacy over at The Land of K.A. posted her Theme Thursday, which I’m a little late getting too, what kind of winter scenes do you have? Sunny and cold popped to mind first. I am completely envious of all the snow in her backyard. During our drive to visit the Very Large Array we stopped at La Ventana on the drive home and I snapped this shot of my son and the rock. If you look closely you see a spattering of snow still on the ground. That’s all the snow I’ve seen so far this year. We all needed to stretch our legs a little and a short trail from the rest stop put us right underneath a natural arch. […]
I so love all your snow. I’m a little late getting this up but here’s my contribution to winter scenes. Sunny and cold. 😉
