To further illustrate Kailan’s behavior on Sunday, I give you this story:
I was attempting to make dinner and noticed that Kailan was busily emptying the pantry shelves of pop cans as Anya looked on. She was just watching him the whole time, her little mind whirling with the possibilities for getting into trouble when she gets older. I noticed the mess, but since they were happily playing and not getting into too much trouble, I ignored it for the time being. The next time I peered around the corner, Kailan had taken a few beer bottles off the shelf.
Okay, time to intercede.
I walked over there to assess the damage, and concurrently Kai went into the kitchen, grabbed the bottle opener, went back to the pantry, plopped down on the floor and grabbed a bottle of beer. As he proceeded to try to open the beer bottle, I was telling him “NO KAI!” He, of course, ignored his mother and threw a fit when I pried the bottle opener from his tightly clenched hands.
We honestly don’t drink beer all THAT often. He was just emulating the behavior he sees continuously during the Poker Night’s held at our house. It just must be imprinted in his young, impressionable mind as the proper way to treat a bottle of beer. He sees SO MUCH of it during those evenings.
