Momma got a new ride! And oh, she’s PURTY! 😀
There were several reasons I wanted to get rid of my 2001 Pathfinder. She was headed into a downhill spiral of maintenance costs. It was a good vehicle for the most part, and I had owned it for 7 years. I was a bit irritated when the CD player broke about two years ago, and having a VCR in the back was a bit outdated. Not to mention the remote battery died before we even had kids…and apparently I am too lazy to find a new one. 😉
This past year she’s been running rough, and one of the things I will not have at this stage in our life is a car I can’t trust. The transmission has been giving me problems, as has the engine, and it needs new tires.
One of the biggest things that really irritated me is that we didn’t have seating for more than 4 people with the car seats. Basically, if we had friends or family from out of town we needed to take two vehicles everywhere. I needed a bigger vehicle, so yes…I am a consumerist American with a big gas guzzlin’ vehicle. *sigh* I don’t know how I will sleep at night now.
Well, I guess, I am trying not to feel too bad. It only has a V-6 which is all I really need…I’m not going to be out off roadin’ in it. The smaller engine will cut down on the gas mileage, as will the fact that I don’t drive very far on a daily basis. It isn’t as big as some of the bigger SUV’s, so that is nice. It was also cheaper than a lot of the SUV’s in the same class, it had 2nd row captain chairs so people could get to the 3rd row easier than climbing over a bench seat, and she’s PURTY!
Unfortunately she’s also purty expensive, but at least we got supplier’s pricing through Brian’s work and a decent price on the trade in.
I’m just really hoping that being this is only the second model year that there aren’t any bugs that need fixin’.
Oh, and don’t tell me that I should have just gone minivan and sucked it up. Our families live in rural places, so in the winter I wanted to have the AWD. Honestly, I would have rather gotten 4WD but they didn’t have it. Hopefully AWD works alright in the snow.
And I still want to maintain the facade that I’ve got some cool factor remaining…so, no minivans!! 😉
WhooHoo NICE ride, Mama!!
A dependable vehicle is worth it’s weight in gold(wow, that’d be alot LOL) n I hear ya about the space and the AWD.
Enjoy the ride!!

I’m not against mini vans in principle……it’s more that they’re all sludge coloured. I think I’d buy more or less any car as long as it was pillar box red………..makes it so much easier to find in the parking lot.
Cheers
What a great lookin’ ride ! You go girl !
Oh that is pretty!
Purty, purty…and with cool factor. I think like you…I just have never been able to buckle for a mini van and needed 4WD while living in the mountains. 🙂
Enjoy.
ohhh perty! I like!!!! 🙂
Thanks, I’m really happy with it! Reading some of the reviews on it there were some that were not happy with the gas mileage. Having driven trucks growing up, there is only one way to go from there, and that’s up! I am only about 4 miles (10 minutes) from work so I’m not too concerned with that since I don’t drive too much.
We weren’t planning on buying it Saturday, but they had my black one there…and she CALLED to me. 😉 Still wish they would have had in in 4wd instead of AWD though.
NICE RIDE!! That is a good Mama-machine, and way cooler than a mini-van 🙂
I do miss the 3rd row seating that our Durango used to have, but my soccer-mom Volvo wagon seems to be just fine for us for now…
It’s so awesome!
And I am so proud–it’s NOT a minivan! I don’t like them at all–my boys ride in the backseat of an extended cab 4WD Chevrolet pickup 🙂
sweet wheels Stacy! Congrats and best wishes for a safe ride always! lol on the cool factor, these days I’ve traded my minivan days and now drive a passenger van with the 6 kids. I hop out looking like I am ready to install some carpet 🙂 How cool am I?!
congrats! it is nice:-) i do like my minivan tho…
nice ride, mama. i think it suits you well. 🙂 you are too cool for a minivan. i, on the other hand, am not. 😉 (though i don’t have one yet…maybe someday.)
Congrats! That’s a really nice car. I have similar body a Saturn Vue. It’s only 4 cyl but I really love it. It’s just he right size for me and my girls.
Very purty indeed! Woohoo! I’ll never do a minivan either….just not enough cool factor. Cuz I’m the ultimate in coolness. 😉
Woo woo! I’m a station wagon girl right now, but I actually fantasize about a mini van–imagine being able to WALK back there and make good on my threats to come back there, instead of reaching like an octopus! (When my husband is driving, that is! ) 🙂
Great new ride! I remember when I traded my 2000 saturn for a 2004 F150 V6, ah, I was an extremely happy camper about that trade off. Still am. Enjoy. : )
Congrats on the nice new ride! I’d love to ditch my old minivan!
Sweet new ride!!!
How FUN 🙂
