Momma got a new ride!  And oh, she’s PURTY! 😀

There were several reasons I wanted to get rid of my 2001 Pathfinder.  She was headed into a downhill spiral of maintenance costs.  It was a good vehicle for the most part, and I had owned it for 7 years.  I was a bit irritated when the CD player broke about two years ago, and having a VCR in the back was a bit outdated.  Not to mention the remote battery died before we even had kids…and apparently I am too lazy to find a new one.  😉

This past year she’s been running rough, and one of the things I will not have at this stage in our life is a car I can’t trust.  The transmission has been giving me problems, as has the engine, and it needs new tires.

One of the biggest things that really irritated me is that we didn’t have seating for more than 4 people with the car seats.  Basically, if we had friends or family from out of town we needed to take two vehicles everywhere.  I needed a bigger vehicle, so yes…I am a consumerist American with a big gas guzzlin’ vehicle.  *sigh*  I don’t know how I will sleep at night now.

Well, I guess, I am trying not to feel too bad.  It only has a V-6 which is all I really need…I’m not going to be out off roadin’ in it.  The smaller engine will cut down on the gas mileage, as will the fact that I don’t drive very far on a daily basis.  It isn’t as big as some of the bigger SUV’s, so that is nice.  It was also cheaper than a lot of the SUV’s in the same class, it had 2nd row captain chairs so people could get to the 3rd row easier than climbing over a bench seat, and she’s PURTY!

Unfortunately she’s also purty expensive, but at least we got supplier’s pricing through Brian’s work and a decent price on the trade in.

I’m just really hoping that being this is only the second model year that there aren’t any bugs that need fixin’.

Oh, and don’t tell me that I should have just gone minivan and sucked it up.  Our families live in rural places, so in the winter I wanted to have the AWD.  Honestly, I would have rather gotten 4WD but they didn’t have it.  Hopefully AWD works alright in the snow.

And I still want to maintain the facade that I’ve got some cool factor remaining…so, no minivans!! 😉
