I managed to get a few more dresses made to send to Haiti, in addition to a couple pairs of shorts.  I was trying to use up fabric that I am very low on to get them out of the sewing room.

Then, I made a little apron for Anya.  I thought it was pretty cute, but I feel it fell into the “barely good-enough” category for her.  Hmph!  She did ask for one to use on those rare occassions that she decides to help me in the kitchen.  These are all wovens, and I managed to use up two of the fabrics on this apron.  At least I got some of my stash used up.

Then I embarked upon making some shorts for her for summer.  I like the pockets on these shorts, though I did them a bit differently.  I used a pattern I had for lounge pants, and then I added the pocket on top.

The first pair ended up too big.  I will save these for a later date when they may fit her next year.  They were from a heavy twill.  When cutting out the puff out part of the pocket, you have to make sure to cut that on the bias.  It needs to be able to stretch around the corner.

The next pair I made with a lighter cotton material.  I thought they turned out pretty cute.  She already has a few shirts in her closet that will match these shorts so at least I don’t need to make a matchy-matchy one.

I asked her this evening to look at another children’s clothes magazine, CWD.  She picked out just about everything in there, and plenty of dresses.  Apparently, she actually wants to wear dresses this summer!  More copycat dresses (with bike shorts underneath) will be in the works. 🙂
