I have a confession. Kailan has only seen Finding Nemo…ONCE! Shocking isn’t it? We don’t own that oh so popular Disney cartoon. That did not stop me from buying tickets and taking him to see the Disney on Ice – Finding Nemo. A friend of mine and I took Kailan and her 5 year old daughter to the show yesterday. I wasn’t sure how Kailan would do, but I should have know he would be completely enthralled the whole time. After last week, I wasn’t really looking forward to it too much, but Kailan enjoyed it so much it was just fun watching him.
When we got there, I got him a toy from one of the many over-priced-full-of-Nemo-and-company kiosks. He chose a boat, and during the show proceeded to launch the torpedo after he dropped it on the floor. At least it didn’t go far and I just had to retrieve under the seat one level below us. It was a little nasty…those floors aren’t very clean.
When the show was getting ready to start, he kept asking me when the “movie” was going to start. Well, the “movie” finally started and he was very excited pointing out Nemo and asking me questions occassionally. Mostly he just watched fascinated by the whole production. It was very well done, and Disney always does such a great job with their productions. We have seen the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and Aida in their theatre productions, which were done so well. They definitely don’t skimp on costumes and sets.
I didn’t take Anya with because she already had her ballerina show, and she really wouldn’t have stayed still the whole time. I knew Kailan had no problem with sitting and watching something for that long. He’s our movie boy! I didn’t have any pictures from the event, since I didn’t bring my camera. I wasn’t sure if I would be allowed to take pictures. They also search your purse before letting you in and I didn’t want to go through all that (thanks terrorists!). I just brought my wallet purse.
As we were leaving through the mass of people, Kailan told me, “That was fun, Mommy!”. That makes those over-priced tickets so worth while. 🙂
My kids haven’t see Nemo at all. In fact, the only Disney movie we have is Lady and the Tramp and a couple weeks ago, when we spent some time in Florida visiting my parents, we spent a day at Disney World. Very well done, but also, way more over-priced than Disney on Ice (which we’ve also done when we’ve been in Florida. Disney always does a very good job, but I need to make a point to at least check out the stories and read them to my kids before we do much more Disney stuff.
Oh…how I wish we didn’t own Nemo. Want me to recite it for you? I can… ha ha.
I have Nemo memorized 🙂 Monsters, Inc., too…
As a matter of fact, we own most Disney movies and a whole bunch of other children’s movies, too. If they’re watching a DVD they don’t see so much of the commercials and shows I may not really want them to watch.
We took the boys to see Disney on Ice last summer–we saw The Incredibles. They LOVED it!
Oh how fun ! No photos necessary … you told the story so well, I could picture it in my head !
We are Nemo owners. Love that movie ! So cute !!
I agree with Bonnie – sometimes it is so much more fun to sit back and watch the kids with no camera in front of my face. Really watch them enjoying it…so fun!
We do own Nemo, and almost all the other Disney movies known to man…it is a favorite, though!
Sometimes leaving the camera behind makes for such brilliant memories…and that’s a good thing. Yay for the joy found in over-priced event tickets.
We LOVE Nemo…still.
What fun!!! Good for you for not bringing the camera…I need to do that sometimes! 🙂
Ok, I am a fan of the Finding Nemo DVD. Being a scuba diver, I really appreciate the “behind the scenes” section on the dvd, it is fascinating. Otherwise, the on ice version works just fine 🙂
I LOVE the photography tips on your site, it is so generous, informative and helpful. So, thank you!!!!
Nadia has seen Finding Nemo – but only becasue it’s almost the only Disney movie we own! She caught the movie bg a bit late, so we’re just now starting to build our collection. 🙂
Sounds like a fantastic time! I have heard from several people that those Disey “on ice” shows are very well done, and I’d love to go sometime.
I think I’ve only seen Finding Nemo once myself. W.W. isn’t really interested in movies, except for CARS. But the ice show sounds wonderful. I’ve never been to one but you’re right they always look so extravagent.
