I think I have mentioned that the hubby and I need a vacation. The last time we had a real vacation was when Kai was 6 months old. We have taken time off of work, of course, but that was usually to do stuff around the house or just rest for a few days. Those few days were still within reach of the internet, e-mail, and work calling and bugging us. Shoot, even when I was on maternity leave I checked my work e-mail everyday and even had to work at times. We both need to unplug.
We are coming up on our 10th anniversary in May. It’s hard to believe that 10 years flew by so fast, but here we are! We were planning on making a trip to Europe for our anniversary, but exchange rates being what they are we decided to wait on that. Instead we are going to drink our way through Sonoma!
Oh, just kidding! Well…maybe a little bit of drinking will happen. 😉
If there is anyone out there in Internet land that has suggestions for restaurants or wineries we must stop at…please let me know. I’m going to try to plan an itinerary, but we just want to have a relaxing time for the most part.
The most mind boggling part?? We will not be bringing our laptops and we won’t be checking our voicemails. We will be UNPLUGGED. We are so ready for this we can almost taste the Pinot Noir.
That sounds soooo fantastic. It’s our 11th in May and we haven’t celebrated in years. I think the girls are old enough (uh,yea) to stay with the Grands for a long weekend, don’t you think?
Awesome!
Andy and I have NEVER taken a vacation alone. Well, our honeymoon, but other than that, never. Last year we took our first family vacation, and this year is the big trip to Phoenix. Perhaps next year for our 10th anniversary…
I hope you have a GREAT time!
WOOHOO!
Have fun.
That is a wonderful kind of craziness. Wishing you relaxation, revitalization and romance.
That is so great! I think it sounds like a wonderfully romantic thing to do!
It is so hard to get fully unplugged. We recently went away for a weekend and didn’t bring our computers but when we arrived the B & B had a computer with internet in our room. We resisted the urge to check our e-mail but it was right there in our face!
Oh how exciting !!! I can’t wait to hear all about it !
I’m so happy for you!!!
After your last post it sounds like this is JUST what you need!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been to that area – it is beutiful. There is great shopping in Petaluma nearby – also beautiful shores just east in Bodega Bay and surrounding areas. (Bodega Bay is where Hithcock’s “The Birds” was filmed).
I hope you have a wonderful time 🙂
Ravenswood ! My favorite vineyard out there! What heaven that trip will be!
oh…where to begin?! how fun will that be…i so miss living in SF…a quick drive up there. i hope you will take at least one afternoon and get some spa-love? althought it soudns gross, and icky…the mudbaths are actually very relaxing and kinda cool!
Awesome! That is SO great for you! We’ve been feeling the need for a vacation too – we haven’t spent a single night away from home since befor The Girl. I’m so glad you will get this chance to escape from it all and relax. Will this be kid-free?
Sounds like a wonderful time. 🙂 I’ve never been so have no suggestions unfortunately. I look forward to hearing more about it though.
Forget Sonoma – you need to cross county’s and go to Napa. St. Supry Winery – you will NOT be disappointed. You can also visit Coppola’s vineyard about 10 minutes away from St. Supry…(I think…)
Enjoy…you are SO deserving…
Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I can’t tell you how much I am really, really, really looking forward to it. 🙂
