First off, I need to shout out to Mom who turns the big 6-0 today.  Happy Birthday, Mom!!

Sorry, no sewing today.  I usually sew on the weekends, and on Saturday we went up and got the nieces ready for prom.  Tomorrow I will have pictures of the girls, but for now you get to see their hair. 🙂  First I did their hair and then I took some pictures.  Unfortunately, this year it was pretty muddy outside so we didn’t get as nice of pictures as last year.  Boo hoo mother nature!  She’s hasn’t been cooperating with us this year, at all!

Over the years of having long hair I have learned how to do just about anything with long hair.  I’m at a complete loss for short hair, though. 😉

Her hair is naturally straight, so I had to use a few curling irons on it and a lot of hairspray.  First I flat ironed the front pieces and put the rest of her hair up in a pony tail on top.   I pinned the flat-ironed pieces in the back with the ends out to be curled.  Then I used my large curling iron to curl the pony tail pieces and when I was done curling each piece I pinned it in the curl.  After I was done curling them all I hairsprayed them and let them dry.  Then I pulled apart the curls and pinned them with the pretty pins.  I used my small curling iron for the pieces that weren’t holding the curl too well, and more hairspray.   It probably took me twenty-five minutes.

Much easier!  Her hair is naturally curly, so I just put it up with a pony tail on top for the front and some small french twists for the bottom part.  I used her pretty rhinestone pins to strategically place her curls.  Then lots of hairspray.  I think it only took about ten minutes.

The key to updos’?  Lots of pretty pins and lots and lots of hairspray!  As, I was getting all my hairstuff (of which I have more than the average Jane), I decided that there is no hair appliance I don’t own. 😉

I have:

  • 3 different curling irons – small, normal and large
  • 2 different hair dryers
  • 1 hair dryer/curling iron combo
  • A hair iron and a hair crimper
  • A steam curler set

What do I use?  Hmmm, occassonally I dry my hair with a hair dryer.  Of course, I won’t get rid of them because I MAY use them at some point.  I’m such a hoarder.

I did sew a little bit on Sunday night, but that project isn’t finished yet.  I’m also working on a tutorial for the halter dresses I make with the shirred back.  I’m hoping to be able to finish that up over the next few weeks.
