Grateful for…Adventures.
We have passed by the sign for this cave for many years. It is only about 15 minutes off the interstate, so we decided to take a side trip on our way back to the homeland.
This cave had many rooms and it was very cool (both literally and figuratively…it was in the 40’s). I told the kids to wear jeans and bring along a hoodie. I didn’t think that I would need to tell Brian as he could overhear me telling the kids this over and over again. I guess I did need to tell him, but he seemed to survive okay down there.
We also learned a bit about geology and about bats. Did you know that bats in the northern U.S. and Canada are in danger of extinction? Bats can eat up to 3,000 bugs a night, so that is a lot of mosquitos that could still be around if the bats don’t survive.
Anya was very happy with the fact that she was “little” and didn’t have to duck to get around down there. Brian had to duck or risk hitting his head for most of the tour. Both the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves!
Then here are few pictures of blooming flowers. They bloom because they are happy with all the rain that we have gotten. The mosquitos are also very happy.
It was refreshingly cool in the cave. 48 degrees with 100% humidity and no wind; it felt like at least 52!
