This week, I am grateful for Air Conditioning!  It was very hot this week, which meant we didn’t go outside unless we really needed to do so.

As the July 4th holiday was mid-week, we didn’t do really have much for plans.  Kailan wanted to play in the Firecracker baseball game here, so we signed him up for it.  Little did we know it would top 100 degrees that day.  He played from 11:45 to 1:00pm, and he played well.  He hit the ball well and had a couple of really nice plays where he fielded the ball well to get a few outs.  That last at bat was tough, though.  I think all the kids were well done by then.  Brian had been helping by coaching bases, while Anya and I sat in a makeshift shade.

We didn’t go to see any fireworks.  It was SO HOT outside that braving the crowds, parking and walking to see a decent show just wasn’t in us.  luckily there were 2 packages of snaps leftover from last year (we bought a whole case) for the kids to throw on the ground.  Not much, but enough for a little excitement.

Other happenings…

–  Our driveway finally got poured on Monday, but they haven’t been back to get the forms off or clean up the crap they left lying in our yard and OUR NEIGHBOR’S yard.  These guys really are not professional at all.  Angie’s List is going to get an update on how well they do their job.

– We had friends over for dinner on Saturday night, which was well needed for them.  They had to put their dog down on Friday due to cancer.  He was their first baby 13.5 years ago, so it was tough.  It was the first time my girlfriend ever had to do that, so she didn’t realize how hard it can be when you lose your pet.  They do become parts of your family.
