We spent the weekend and part of Monday staying at our friend’s house.  They have a beautiful house in a suburb of Seattle, and they took us all around the city.  The girls were in one car and the boys in the other, which seemed to work out pretty well.

On Saturday they drove us past the Space Needle and up to an overlook over Seattle.  It was at a park, so the kids played there and had a quick lunch of PB&J.

Then we headed to Pike’s Market, which is a bustling market in downtown Seattle.  It was crazy trying to get parked on a Saturday afternoon, but we finally made it.  The market is pretty cool, with fresh fish, fruits and beautiful flower arrangements.  We got the kids some mini-donuts that they watched get made, some ice cream, fruits and then we bought some yummy artisan cheeses to bring back to the house.

After a chaotic hour at the market, the kids were DONE.  One of them laid down on the sidewalk, and the baby was inconsolable.  Time to go!

We headed back to their house, so the kids could have some quiet time in the afternoon.  Kelly stayed home with the kids and Steve took Brian and I to Chateau St. Michele to pick up their Spring and Summer wine club allotment, and to do a free tasting.  Then we went to another tasting at Zerba Winery’s tasting room.  Very good stuff.

When we got back it was dinnertime, so we went to a park on a lake.  It had a kid’s restaurant with burgers and then one with more adult fare of seafood.  Again…very good.

Then we ventured over to a playground.  The boys wanted to bring the superhero costumes and this proved to be a bit of a problem.  Hard to have a bunch of costumes without other little boys being intrigued.  They were pretty cute, though.  As Ryan is 3 years younger than Kai, most of his costumes were a tight fit.  Pretty funny!

The girls played a bit and then proceeded to write songs for a performance they were going to do the next morning.  About 8pm we all headed home for showers and bed for the kids, while us adults drank wine by the fire and talked into the night.
