On Sunday, the girls gave us their performance after breakfast.  Too bad I didn’t have a video recorder, because it was very cute!  They had six “songs” that they performed for all of us and even had a program.

Then we all packed up to go for a hike in the woods.  It was a very pretty and hilly walk towards a waterfall.  We didn’t quite make it to the waterfall, as the signs were less than fantastic.  It was still a good 3 mile walk, though.

Before we headed out on the trail, Kelly asked the kids to count certain things and one of them was the number of slugs we would see on the trail.  You can thank me now for not taking pictures of the 4 – 6 inch slugs that are in that area.  Yuck!!  I think Anya guessed 4 slugs, Kaitlyn guessed 6 and Kelly guessed 71.  The number of slugs we found were closer to Kelly’s guess.

We just stopped counting after awhile.

Along the way, Anya lost HER VERY FIRST TOOTH!  Yes, she is a little late in losing her teeth, as she is almost into 2nd grade.   I was hoping it would wait until we got home, but alas…it wanted out.

Then we got some Mexican food for lunch and headed back to chill out for the afternoon.

The evening agenda was bowling and then we found a restaurant on a waterfront.

It was a nice restaurant that we stopped at, and I’m sure all the patrons appreciated our crabby and loud children.  We mostly had control of them, but the baby was a bit tired.  All the excitement around her made her not want to nap at all that weekend, and she finally fell asleep on her way to the restaurant.  Needless to say, she was not happy when I got her out of her carseat at the restaurant!  Still…it was a nice dinner.

We got home and put the kids to bed.  The first night, they all slept in the playroom, but the 2nd and 3rd nights, the boys slept in Ryan’s bed and just the girls slept in the playroom (we were sleeping in Kaitlyn’s bed).  They didn’t get a lot of sleep, but were having a great time.

The tooth fairy even found Anya in Seattle!

Monday was basically just getting ready to go home.  Our friends had to go back to work, though Kelly works from home so she could see us off.  We walked with their three kids and the nanny to the school playground so the kids could get a little more playing time in with their friends before the plane ride.  It was about a mile to the playground, so we figured that the exercise would do us all good.

It was FREEZING out.  FREEEEEZZZZIINNGGG.  I couldn’t wait to get back to summer.  It was about 60 degrees (if that!) and windy.

Then we were off to the airport.  We had a nice big late lunch at a restaurant there, and then didn’t have to wait too long for takeoff.  The flight was fairly uneventful, we got to our car and got home about 10pm.  It was 8pm Seattle time, so needless to say we couldn’t get to sleep until late…we were very tired for work the next day.

All in all, it was a great trip to a very pretty area.  If our friends have an assignment there longer than the normal two years, we will likely get back there again!
