Last weekend we participated in an annual golf outing with my old neighborhood. The “neighborhood” is a township in the country, where some people have lived their whole lives. It’s always fun to get together with everyone. While we golfed, the kids got to play in the water and ride Alex (my sister’s older horse) with my sister. They also had a playmate. One of the golfing couples didn’t want to leave their 10 year old home by herself. She plays really well with the kids, so a fun time was had by all.
After the golfing we had the cookout. They always make some yummy chicken on a big open pit grill and everyone brings food. No one starves, that is for certain.
While we were getting the food ready and the menfolk were cooking chicken, a storm blew in. The more severe stuff went North, but we definitely got a downpour and a good drenching. The men bravely stood under the little tent and cooked chicken and drank beer and bullsh*tted. Once the worst of it passed, the kids ran out in the rain and got fairly soaked. I was prepared…I brought extra clothes. You would think I had precognition thinking they would get all wet and dirty. 😉

After the storm
Just an FYI for next week…I will be traveling for work and coming home from San Francisco on Thursday. I’ll have my post up, but won’t be able to get commenting until Thursday night at the earliest. 4 hour flight + time to check in and drop off rental car + 2 hour time change = one day shot to h*ll. 😉

What summer fun do you have to share today?
Oh yes! Anya, down and dirty, LOL. Super shots! This is summer fun at its best.
Mine, well, it could result in a divorce. 😉

She’s so cute, having a blast in a downpour. What a great attitude! 🙂 The golf outing sounds like fun!
Have a good trip, even if it is for work. 😉
I saved this photo for today’s theme. I know, I’m lazy and I usually only have one.

A lit’l rain adds to the fun where kids are concerned!

Here’s my summer fun this week, thanks for making the theme so universally easy for the disorganized folks like me!
Love the rain puddle series! We are finally getting some rain here today, so I am hopeful for some splashing photos.

I think that is probably one of the best things about being little…the ability to play in puddles!
Happy travels to San Fran!

Great shots (and excellent forethought on the clean clothes!).

We could use a little rain here. My kids love to play in puddles too. I feel like our summer has been filled with nothing, but fun.

Sounds like a fun time, minus the storm. What is it with kids and playing in the puddles. But I will say this, it keeps them busy for hours. Great shots of her though.

What a fun mom you are to let them get all dirty. Pure fun. We were expecting at least a little rain from Hurrican Dolly but haven’t gotten any yet.

“your little drowned rat” – LOL! I remember being a kid and thinking mud puddles are the best fun out there…now I’m like ewwwww! But I can confirm that Anya and Nadia are on the same page with them! (her stance in #2 cracks me up!)

Love the rain shots. And I’m glad you got to golf. I can’t golf. Don’t want to golf. But I can ride a horse!!! Have a safe trip.

What gorgeous shots…your little drowned rat’s clothes are so vibrant against the mud. We also had a rainstorm here yesterday and had a very similar colorful sky…nope. Didn’t have my camera and was kicking myself. In Central Texas, we don’t get many rainstorms 🙂
Hope your flight goes well.

what fun for the kids & how smart of you to bring extra clothes :).

I love the puddle shots! Kids and puddles, somehow they just seem to secretly call out to be splashed in. Even little ones, W.W. has to go jump in any wet spot anywhere he sees. It’s too funny 🙂 She sure looks like she enjoyed the wet adventure after the rain.
Safe travels next week!

That is one thing I miss about summers – playing in the warm, summer rain! We rarely get any rain all summer long here…and then I don’t get fun shots like that either! Smart thinking on bringing extra clothes, you’d think you were clairvoyant or something. 🙂
And I love the sunset/cloud shot – so pretty.
My Summer Fun is also some water shots with a little bucket added. Have a great weekend!
I just love these! The perspective on them is perfect! I wish we would actually get some rain around here…but, nope…103 degree temps is all we are blessed with!
Here is my summer fun!

Playing in the summer rain as a child was my absolute favorite thing. I’ve yet to get to do that with my son because it seems that all the rain showers we’ve had, have also been accompanied by lightning. Some day, though!
Thanks for the theme Stacy! Thankfully I’ve been having fun with my little friends and have something to share this week. 🙂
I finally got around to doing a post for Theme Thursday, then forgot to publish it!
Love the rain shots. Aren’t summer rains so much fun?

Very late, but I’m missing participating. Think maybe this summer thing is playing with my sense of time?

Rain puddles! HOW fun!! 🙂
I am a poop head and not participating, this week! I am lazy. I know. 🙂 But at least I make an effort to tell you about my laziness! tee hee! 🙂
Safe travels, next week!
I have family visiting from out of town so I was late with my post. I’ll be even later getting around to everyone else’s but I’m looking forward to the quiet moment to enjoy your summer fun!
Theme Thursday huh! Maybe I’ll get my act together and try next week………or maybe the theme will change and then I’ll still be too late!
Cheers
