We stayed up north at some property owned by friends of the family.  They own 25 acres and 1/3 mile lakeshore on a small lake.  The lake doesn’t have public access, so it was so quiet and calm.  No waterskiers, drunks yelling from their pontoons or jetskis zipping by everyone.  It was just a peaceful little lake, with a few fishing boats and loons.

The loon family was an added bonus.  That sound on a lake surrounded by pines is so completely peaceful.

On the way up there, we stopped and purchased some fireworks. There are many, many stores in the area, and they are crazy busy.  Luckily we stopped at the store fairly early on the 4th, so it was only a little busy.

That night, it became apparent that we would wake the older people that went to bed at 6:30 pm if we shot the fireworks off the dock.

Huh…now what?

The men (Brian, my Dad, Wild Bill Jr.) turned to a tried and true method.  Well, the last time they tried it they started the boat on fire…but they TRIED IT!

The men went out on the lake in the pontoon trailing a canoe behind them.  They set the fireworks off on the canoe, pushed it out away from them and reversed the pontoon at the same time.

The fireworks only fell over a few times.

At least the boat was metal!

No rednecks were harmed in the shooting off of fireworks.

This time. 😉
