We had fantastic weather while we were up at the lake for a few days over the 4th of July.  It was in the low 80’s and sunny.  We spent a few hours each day fishing with nightcrawlers (long, fat worms for those unfamiliar with worms).

We were able to fish off the dock, as we caught plenty of fish.  They just weren’t overly large.  Most had to be thrown back.  Then, there was the added issue of a 20 lb snapping turtle that wanted to eat the fish we did catch.  He was eventually removed from the water, and released a few miles down the road.

Kai got over his squeamishness and was able to put his worms on the hook.

Anya didn’t get into fishing, but she was our Worm Girl.  She cut the worms for us and gave them to us when the fish robbed them off our hooks.  Lots of robbing, so we kept her busy, busy!

The guys eventually took off in my Dad’s fishing boat and they spent hours on the lake.

We eventually got a ride in Wild Bill, Jr.’s, little pontoon and he took us around to some of his favorite fishing holes.  Anya continued to be Worm Girl.

We caught fish.

We (not me) cleaned the fish.

We ate fish.  It was good. 🙂

Then we relaxed by the fire, while a swarm of bugs (mosquitos and gnats) stationed themselves about 10 feet over our head.

We used lots of bug repellent.

Ah, nature.
