Well, so far the vacation has been less than restful. Instead of eating bonbons on the couch, getting massages and shopping, I have been working hard. On Tuesday I painted about 3/4 of the basement, which is around 1300 square feet. It’s unfinished, so the walls were a bit dirty and that is where I sew, so it needed a sunny yellow to clean up the place a bit. That was about 7 hours of squatting, bending and feeling my neck pop as I continually reached up. It made my woefully out of shape body a bit tired.
Yesterday my cousin from Phoenix came for lunch so I rushed around trying to pick up the place while the urchins came behind me and destroyed it. He had never been to our house or seen Anya, so I wanted it to be looking nice. Yeah. I didn’t have time to vacuum, so I settled for it being just picked up and still dusty. Then the kids threw a fit or two while he was here and I burned the food, so that was fun. Or not. At the end of the day, Kai said he wanted to go to daycare after his sister picked on him all day long. I don’t blame the kid…and really, I was right there with him.
At least Anya took a nap after crying quite a bit, poor girl got hurt doing something we have told her not to do about a million times. I feel bad that I didn’t feel more sorry for her, but really, my patience only goes so far. She has not been a good girl at daycare lately either, so we are trying (fruitlessly it would seem) to get her to actually L.I.S.T.E.N. Oh yeah, and don’t hurt your friends. This parenting thing?? Not for the weak at heart. She has lost her taggie blankies (a.k.a. other limbs) until she can go a whole week without an incident report at daycare…which won’t be this week it would seem. >:(
Ah, she looks so innocent…

I hope everyone else has something restful for today. What do you have to share?
Sorry you didn’t get much rest! Painting is sooo labour intensive. I don’t mind the actual painting part so much (except for ceilings… I loathe ceilings) but the wall prep is such a pain. And your basement is huge! I hope you didn’t have to do it all by yourself. At least you’ll have a sunny bright sewing space now! 🙂
The only time I can truly rest is when I go over to my parents’ home. I love it! It’s like a mini-vacation for me, so today’s post is one of grandpa and grandkid at grandpa’s house.

Sorry you’re vacation has been stressful. Hopefully you can get some much needed rest soon! The pictures are beautiful. They look so lovely when they are sleeping.
I only had two to share this week. I don’t have many restful days either with my kids!

AWW! Even though she is a patience tester, recently, she sure is cute! 🙂
Does not sound very restful around there, Stacy! But sometimes it almost feels as good to be productive as it does to be “restful” in my book. So at least you have something to show for it.
And our little angel Anya? She has been getting in to trouble? I can hardly believe it! 🙂 You are so right, this parenting thing is NOT for the weak at heart!
Our little “angel” doesn’t seem to nap any more, but she does rest in other ways…

It’s hard to relax at home. Especially when you have a to do list. But at least you can cross a few things off. 🙂

I absolutely love that second shot. So very sweet, but you can also see the mischief in her eye. Not must restfulness going on at my house either, but here’s what I have:

oh those rough phases kids go through…toughest on the parents, definitely :).

hehehehehe yeah they do look innocent and sweet when they sleep now don’t they? 😉 Sorry to hear about daycare though, listening is always such a hard skill to learn too. We have that problem too, sometimes with W.W. lots of eye contact works while squatted at his level and his face works too.
Although that is good news about the painting. It is nice to work in an area that makes you feel good. 🙂 Hope you get it all completed this week. And I can totally relate about wishing this week could have been a little more restful myself.

Our vacation was like that too… a “staycation” where we got half a barn built. Maybe next year – the tropics?
You will be enjoying your sunny sew space though – so congrats!
We are going through a “teachable” time with our 2 year old too. Praying for patience for you and me as we help these little citizens figure out that it’s far easier (and more fun!) to play nice.
Love the shots… they always look so innocent when they’re recharging, eh? 😉
She sure does look angelic…but I understand how decieving that can be! I have my own little hellion here. I am at my wits end with her. Parenting defintiely aint for the weak at heart, you got that right!
I’m sorry your vacation has ended up not being so restful…here’s hoping today and tomorrow change that!
Oh my goodness, she is the sweetest! That little eye peeking at you? ADORABLE!

I always feel more rested when I can cross off my to-do list! Your little darling is so very cute! I love the second shot with the lil stuffed piggie, too cute~
Here’s my first TT post!

They always look so angelic when they are sleeping, don’t they? I did something a little different this week and posted a video. Come by and take a look, I mean listen. I’m hoping the story part will be posted on the linked site soon.
What sweet pictures of Anya. our “vacations” are often like that too. I always need a vacation from my vacation!
Here’s my restful day: http://piercebabyproject.blogspot.com/2008/09/theme-thursday-creating-playing.html
Oooh, it’s not always warm fuzzies, is it… bad days happen but at least they seem to be counterbalanced with plenty of decent-to-great ones! The second picture of Anya is really wonderful.
Stacy like the processing, the color really adds a great feel to the picture.
I love the phot of her little eye peeking out!
I just love her little peeking eye! So precious! WOW, 1300 SQ of painting…oh yeah, your back will be complaining for a few days! You are a machine girl!
She looks so innocent in that last shot! You’d never know she was doing something before that she wasn’t supposed to!
Are vacations every really restful? Theres always something to do, kids or not. Sorry things are going rough with Anya…Atleast I know not to let my guard down in few years when Ella gets to be Anya’s age. Dont they get better anytime? I know, Im just kidding myself. I love her eye peeking out in the second shot.
soooo innocent! 🙂 what a face!!
Oh my those photos are beautiful and I am so sympathetic, too, Will is TRYING MY PATIENCE and thank god my husband just took them all down to the beach right now, I am reading blogs and relishing a house with no kids.
(And trying to go back to my tomato recipes in the kitchen instead of picking up Twilight again, I am addicted!)
Missed it, but had to comment on these precious photos. The peeking eye shot is delightful.
