This is the first week of sewing along with Project Run and Play, and the theme this week is zoo-inspired.

I had a few zebra things in the stash, so this was a pretty easy one to do for me.  I found a super cute zebra design in the Silhouette store, had some zebra minky and some zebra FOE.  I even have a little bit of upcycling with a pair of my leggings that are turned into leggings for Little Miss.  They weren’t very comfortable for me, so they were perfect for upcycling into something for her.

The hoodie is a pretty simple design.  I widened a knit shirt a bit on both the body and the arms.  I lined it with a fuzzy fabric, as the inside of the minky was pretty smooth and not soft.  I knew Little Miss would not approve of the softness just being on the outside.  I have all of the seams enclosed, so it is pretty comfy.

I put in a separating zipper, but it was too long.  I used a pliers to pull off the extra teeth, and then zipped up the zipper and pulled it right off!  It was easy enough to put the zipper pull back on, though.  So…if you do that, make sure you put a line of stitching at the top of the zipper to keep it from pulling off.  That worked great.

I was lazy and did not put in pockets.  I got “the look” for no pockets…next time.

The shirt is just a simple t-shirt with black knit and white burnout.  The white burnout is even an animal design, though it is hard to see.

When I put the zebra FOE down the side of the leggings, I put a row of Wondertape down to keep it from moving.  That keeps it in place while I did a zigzag stitch on both sides.

Now she has a cute outfit that can transition into Spring.

Apparently, it is Spring now…let’s hope it actually arrives soon.  Until then…she will be nice and warm in her snuggly hoodie. 🙂
