…that is the question!

Kailan is at a crossroads.  A crossroads we had hoped would be well in the future.  The last week, including this weekend, he has not wanted to take a nap and has managed to successfully get by with not sleeping.  By successfully, I mean that he managed to lay down in his crib for an hour or more and not fall asleep.  How do you do that??  I have no doubt that I would be sleeping shortly after laying down, but unfortunately as a big person we don’t get that opportunity.

The result of this no nap phenomenon has been a cranky, growling little bear at bedtime.  He runs away from us when we go to change into pajamas, doesn’t listen, swats at us…just a real sweetheart.  We are trying to put him to bed earlier now to see if that will help.  More sleep never hurt a child, that is for sure.  I think we are on to something here, too, since he seems to actually be falling asleep less than an hour after going to bed.

A double bonus for us, since we get some extra time at night, too.

I really don’t understand how the early bedtime=more sleep.  I know some ladies that swear by it.  The earlier the bedtime, the later their kids will sleep in the morning…or just not wake at night.  I’m willing to try anything, but right now the early bedtime=Kailan singing to us to wake up.  We’ll see how this new fangled method works after a few weeks.
