I decided to try out the printing at spreadshirt.com. First off, I must say they don’t have the easiest website to figure out what type of printing type you need. I did my first order and I wanted my tree on a blue shirt. Well, apparently if you have small parts (aka my leaves) then it is too small and plus the shirt I wanted they couldn’t print with color. Of course, that wasn’t too clear. After my first shirt was printed in not the manner I wanted (aka WRONG), I exchanged emails with a customer service rep and figured out what I needed to do to get it printed how I wanted. Which is pretty much not print my designs on every colored shirt, since they arbitrarily don’t allow printing on SOME colored shirts unless you have specially approved vector files with less than three colors. Fabulous. That is SOOOOO user friendly.
The other downside is that the design cracks a bit after washing. I’ve been washing in cold and hanging to dry. It hasn’t flaked off or anything, but it does have some cracks in the pattern. That is for the white shirts. The printing on the colored shirts wasn’t as nice as the printing on the white shirts. The white shirts looks more like a digital transfer from a printer onto paper and then onto the shirt, cleaner lines and all. The printing on the colored shirts was directly onto the shirt, so it wasn’t as clean looking. I still like them, don’t get me wrong, it’s just never as pretty as what you see in Photoshop. I know, I’m picky. 😉
The shirts are reasonably priced, which was surprising. Usually these one-off printing services tend to be expensive. An example is the $18/yard for my Spoonflower printed fabric. I set a shop up, but I’m not really expecting much to come from it. I just really wanted to get some for myself and the kiddos. I have mostly women’s shirts and some kids t-shirts. I ordered a few shirts from the designs above. Mostly for the kids for summer. I made the colors to match some fabric that I have. This is one set that I made up yesterday. The skirt has shorts built into it. I’ll do a tutorial on how to do it, I just had to make one first to make sure it fit.
They came in the mail a few weeks ago and were put on immediately. I think they liked them. 😉 My favorite is a pretty simple one. It has a black shirt with a white design on it for Kailan. I think it looks cool.
Here is my shop if you want take a gander. I suck at naming my designs so it is pretty barebones. Apparently you have to tell them how much commission you want, too, so I made a sale with $0 commission. That’ll teach me to not reading the fine print! This will probably be like Google Ads…in 5 years I might be able to afford a can of Coke. 😉
I like the way the shirts turned out. You did a great job. I also really like the skirt – how cute!
Good prices, I really like the first long sleeve shirt.
Those designs are magnificent. I love how they turned out. My favorite is the tree design. Anya’s outfit is precious. I can’t wait for the tutorial for the skirt with shorts underneath.
Wow, those are so cool! Not that I should be surprised at all considering your talent!
Is there no end to your talent, Stacy?
Wow! I LOVE the dress/skort and I know a certain little 3-year old that would be all ON that. I have to get making some stuff for them for summer…
I’m off to check out the cool t-shirts, now!
Thanks so much ladies! I made another later last night and took pictures, so I should be able to get a tutorial made up soon. It only took about an hour to make it.
The designs are cute. Figuring out specifications for these online shops can be kind of tough sometimes. I had to work through that with thezazzle shop for photographs. Not that I make a great deal but is fun to see what other people are coming up with too.
The designs turned out cute on the clothing though. 🙂 Glad the kids liked them.
You are just too dang crafty, woman! There’s some clever new idea every week. Do you EVER rest?! Those designs are super cool. I LOVE the skirt-with-shorts…I’ll need some of those for N in the summer, since she refuses to wear pants/shorts and it’ll be too hot for tights!
Too cute! They’d be hidden here though – since it’s so dang cold and all… got to wait a couple months before it’s warm enough to consider showing off some arms 🙂
Super cute! 🙂
Those are neat! I love the tree shirt…all the designs are really unique~
🙂
ah Stacy! You have a serious talent! Those kiddos of your have no idea how lucky they are to have you as a mama, who can make them such cool clothes! I resort to Old Navy and Target, and you sit and make these amazing and stunning designs!! 🙂
I love these. The very last one is my favorite! I can totally see it on my guitar bag!
