Theme Thursday: Summertime Memories
Please remind me of warm days!
*****
It started snowing yesterday around 3:30, which helped to cover the brown grass that had been exposed from a melting last week. I’d honestly rather look at snow than brown, especially knowing the brown won’t be turning green for at least 2 more months.
I really look forward to swimming classes these days. It is warm and humid in there and helps the dry skin and nasty eczema patch I have above ONE eye. Seriously…what’s up with that??
Anyways, back to swimming. About four weeks ago Anya was in her class and I was on the other side of the room not being able to get a chair close. Brian was by Kailan’s class. I looked over and Anya was crying and her teacher was holding her. This happened twice over the course of the class. Apparently, she started swimming when she wasn’t supposed to and went under because the teacher was watching the kid that was supposed to be swimming. Well, that wasn’t good.
To top it off, the next week (where I was sitting RIGHT THERE this time) her teacher thought she had reached the bench and turned around. Anya slipped and went under again. Now she was really scared of putting her head in the water and just getting off the bench to swim. Great.
It has gotten better the last few weeks. She is starting to not pause and actually throw herself into the water so hopefully she will progress better. There is one more session we have signed them up for before summer arrives. Then we are going to join a pool in our neighborhood and we can get them to attempt to swim and just have fun in the water. I’m looking forward to it.
What I’m not looking forward to is putting on a swimsuit. *shudder* I’m going to try to figure out how to make a flattering swimsuit for me. Wish me luck. 😉

Since our little man hasn’t had much face time lately…here he is *mostly* cooperating for mommy. 🙂 He has been doing really well lately. We hear, “how do you spell…” often these days. He’s getting better at sounding out words to spell them by how the letters sound. Guess all those phonics classes we pay extra for at daycare are actually working!
Glad Anya is doing better. I remember in redneck ville they just threw us off of the dock and said swim…(more like dog paddle) but hey it’s better than drowning..LOL Great pic of your little man. I could use speech therapy myself, (although it would be for potty mouth)trying to get better at that little pictures have such big ears…LOL I think we have turned the corner here in our part of the country, the grass is getting green and my Dad was lamenting the fact that it would be starting to grow soon. He even had me put the tiller on the tractor and rotovate the garden spot yesterday….and I spotted green shoots in the flower beds, Spring is on the way…
Anya’s still ahead of Nadia – she has never been okay with water in her face! Washing her hair is a battle every time. that picture of Kai is incredible, I just love the light play.
What a blast! Swimming classes in the middle of winter??!! Fun fun fun!!
That would feel really good, especially with all the the snow that is going on right now around your neck of the woods.
Your sweet Kailan is so handsome… way to go on the sounding out words, Kailan!!
Hope your eye feels better soon, Stacy… itchy, patchie eczyma is just for the birds. Do you have anything to treat it??
Hugs.. Amy
At least Anya should be grateful you didn’t sign her up for one of those old school Water Babies class. You know, where they actually have a FENCE around the pool to keep parents from running in and “rescuing” their newborns as they are picked up, blown in the face, then tossed into the pool. (I jest not – my mother is still traumatized by it… she swore it was to keep me from drowning in my grandparents’ pool).
Anyhow… so nice to see Prince Kai! That expression… I can almost see him sounding out something in his mind as he poses for you. See the intelligent eyebrow thing? Just a handsome guy!
I could use some spring around here, but please do not speak of bathing suits and such scary things 🙂 If anyone can make a flattering one, it’s you!
Swimming, it can be so trying. It has to get better, right?
I took Caden to swim lessons when he was 6 months old! It was so much fun and he did so well…We couldn’t do lessons last summer because Cole was just a baby, but he spent all summer in the pool with daddy, so I’m hoping when we get to lessons this summer, he will remain comfortable in the water!
Wow, how scary for Anya to have those moments in the water! I think she will warm up over time since you’ve started her so young!
Bummer….hopefully she will take to it more and more.
Fantstic shot of the K man…so handsome!
Have a wonderful week~
🙂
