So…yesterday we went to Lowes, to check out the Venetian Plaster paint they had there.  The paint lady told me not to do the paint treatment where it would get wet, so that pretty much nixes it for by the countertops.  That means that we should have some sort of backsplash.  Okay.

We venture over to look at the countertops first and are bedazzled by the quartz, but there was also a very nice laminate that looked like stone and cost 25% of the Quartz.  I likey.  I really want to have a bar where people can sit at, since the space is there for it.  I don’t know why they didn’t do that originally, and I would love to have it.  Plus that would mean a new sink and faucet. 😀

Then we went over to the ceramic tile and put together this great setup to go with the laminate (on the paper below).  It should go well with the color scheme.

This low cost renovation is quickly adding up!

We got the wallpaper taken down and most of the primer on the walls.  We had to patch a few holes in the wall from the inept builder.  These were covered up by wallpaper…nice, huh?  Yet another thing in this house that was done by someone who didn’t know how to do a decent job.  Now, I’m not a carpetenter, but we have plenty in our family and friends and have done a bit ourself.  I think we know a crappy carpenter when we see their work.  Seriously, WHAT THE HECK??

We also switched our coat closet with our pantry.  Our house is very messy right now, and not looking to improve anytime soon.  Once I get the Valspar Tuscan Finish on the walls and the soffit painted I will feel a bit more under control.  Then I can get my computer set back up again, because we had to take it off the built in desk so we could rip out the wallpaper and paint.

Brian found a copper sink at the Home Depot I need to take a look at, so hopefully by the end of the week we will have the kitchen plan figured out.  One thing I already know is that it is going to cost a lot more than originally planned!  We had some money we are setting aside for it, and plan to do most of the work ourselves.  Still, not really what we originally planned, but I spend alot of time in the kitchen and would love to make it all purty. 🙂

Oh, and Brian was a bit tepid at my plan for putting crown moulding on the soffit and painting it the same color as the cabinets.  Well, lo and behold, one of our favorite HGTV designers, Candace Olson (Divine Design) did the exact same thing on an episode today.  I think he’s sold on it now, because if Candace does it, then it will look good. Great minds think alike!  😉

Anya and I took a breather outside and played in our warmer than average temps.  It almost makes up for the negative degrees we had this week.  Almost, but not quite…I’m DONE with the super cold.  Bring on SPRING!

I also got one more thing accomplished this weekend that was rather hard to do, but I knew it was time.  You will have to wait for Thursday for that one, though. 🙂  Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
