…the baby curls didn’t have to go.
Yes…I finally cut her hair. No scissor had touched her curly golden tresses, and it was really starting to show. It was getting super snarly, and I don’t think swimming helps with that. I decided to do it myself, having some experience cutting hair and getting my own butchered. I definitely didn’t trust the Kid’s Hair at the mall to do it. They routinely screw up Kai’s hair, but since it grows about as fast as mine it doesn’t matter too much.
She was happy to get it cut and it won’t be so hard for her to handle. She was getting it caught in her jacket zipper and it was just unruly. Now it has a little wave in it, but not the tight little baby curls on the end.
*sigh*
It was time, but it still make me sad. I saved some for the scrapbook, of course.

What are you wishing for today?
Aaaw ((hugs)) I remember when I cut off Sophia’s baby curls – I didn’t know her hair wouldn’t curl up at the bottom again, and when I realized it, I cried and cried. You did a good job! Tonight I’m wishing for SLEEEEEP! I am going on five nights of not being able to sleep – no fun!
How sweet!
My wishes are up: http://andtheducksaid.blogspot.com/2009/03/theme-thursday-i-wish.html
Aww ! I know the feeling !! My little guy had beautiful curly locks that had to go when he was about 2 !! Sad sad day … but at least people knew he was a boy once the curls were gone !! 🙂
Anya’s hair looks great … good job !
oh, how bittersweet — i remember the first haircuts for both my boys :). love those shots!

I wish to be out of the dog house, and that sharpie marker disappeared easier and faster off of skin!!!!! nice job on the Anya’s new do… looks like a little lady :o)
Oh… I sighed when I read the first couple of lines. I knew what was coming.
Our kiddo got pretty shaggy (if you look way back on the blog, we called him Monkey Boy for good reason – such a funky way for it to grow!)… when I was sad about cutting it, Mr. Daddy didn’t understand. I told him Itty Bity’s hair would never be the same. He disagreed.
Then we cut it.
He agreed.
It somehow lost that baby softness, but I think he was grateful to be able to SEE!
Umm… Mr. Daddy will be out of the doghouse when the Sharpie wears off 🙂 He’s healing nicely, LOL
Oh, look at those sweet curls. I bet that was so hard. It looks like you did a great job.
Here’s what I am wishing for today:

Oh, I can’t believe how long it still is! She has incredible hair…and I bet it looks even more beautiful now, even though I KNOW how hard it is to cut curls, believe me!
I have a WISH today, too!
That IS sad 🙁 But it is still so beautiful and so long!!
You captured it beautifully.

*Sniff, Sniff* Poor mom. I know that must have hard! Her curls were gorgeous! I guess we mommys are constantly having to let our kids grow up. Good job on the cut though.
There’s just SOMETHING about cutting those lovely locks. At least the picture will do the scrapbook proud!
Wow! I hope I can last that long. My husband wants me to cut the baby’s hair (she’s 19 months) but I am resisting! Lovely shots!
Here is my theme thursday wish come true!
It’s sad to cut away those first locks, but inevitable really. I’m glad you have the skill to take the job on yourself though. I find salons so overrated lately. Looks like a cute cut. 🙂
I’m a little late, it’s just been a long week so far. One more day I keep telling myself…

Awww! Such a bittersweet day! It much have been terribly hard to make the first cut. Her hair is still amazingly long and gorgeous!
Oh I hate cutting hair. Especially the first hair cut. Now, with boys 7,9,10 they never want their hair cut. And I’m always wanting their hair cut.
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Hope you guys have a great weekend.
Julie
Oh no! You didn’t! She is still just as adorable. I have the same problem with Vienne’s hair except that her hair is thick and curly and she had to have her first cut at 6 months cuz it was all over her face. Bittersweet I know.
Oh my that must have been hard. I bet she looks awesome!
I dread the day I cut Ella’s hair for the first time, but it really is starting to get tangles and unkept looking. I love these shots and I think the length of it is perfect. Such golden locks of hair!
Oh Stacy…I feel ya~
I still remember the day that we cut AJ’s sweet curls off…broke my heart. Oh and when I chopped 13 inches of Elena’s for Locks for Love….I cried after she went to sleep.
It looks beautiful, what a stunning color and the sweet curl at the bottom is lovely. You…brave momma you! 🙂
Awwwwww. But such a lovely shot to remember them! I am sure there will be curls again. If not now, wait til puberty! The BA’s mildly wavy hair developed this incredible CURL at 12! Now she spends hours with the hair straightener.
