…oh, and Happy Easter, too. 🙂
Since we have a guest this weekend, we are not travelling to see family for the holiday. I decided I am going to try my hand at a ham, and make some cheesy potatoes in the crockpot. There will be some sort of DESSERT, too. This past week was so hard to stay on track, but I made it through Lent without having any desserts or candy. I think it was good for me to just stop eating desserts all the time. Now hopefully I can keep them to a minimum. I did lose a few pounds, so that was nice. 🙂

Now, off to find my roasting pan. This kitchen renovation is making our house a disaster area! We both can’t wait until it is done. The cabinets are taking FOREVER to paint, but at least the countertop is in, as you can see from the pictures above. I LOVE having a bar for the kids to eat a snack and to color their eggs. The top cabinets are mostly done, and I need to paint a few more coats on the bottom doors and drawers. I have my tile designs finished, too, so now we just need to order them.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Easter. We will be attempting to teach the children that Easter is about the resurrection of Christ and not about a rabbit leaving them candy. Before bed last night, I read to the kids from our Children’s Bible on the story of the crucifixion and resurrection. When their attention waned, I would admonish them that this is why you get candy…pay attention! In all actuality, they were pretty interested in the story…just a little waning was present.
The Bunny is pretty stingy with the candy around here, since candy makes them INSANELY HYPER. We have requested that the Bunny please respectfully hold back on tons of candy and instead give them small toys to add to the mountain in their rooms. Because they need them, of course. They did get some chocolate, though. The kids tore into their chocolate bunnies right away and they now have large chunks missing. Might as well start the day off right!
Oh, last year the Bunny brought them toys in these oversized plastic eggs. They played with the eggs all year long. They could fit so many small toys in them, that they would play games with them and throw them down the stairs to see if they would pop open. Tons ‘o fun! The Bunny even conveniently marked them with an “A” and a “K”, so when they looked for them around the house they knew which one belong to each of the urchins. This year there were 3 spiderman eggs and 3 Hello Kitty eggs along with several small plastic eggs that will soon disappear. They were filled with Reeses peanut butter cup minatures…that mommy may steal a few. 😉

We were at the mall on Friday to get a gift for my Mom for her birthday before we picked them up at the airport. We went past the Mall bunny, and I thought the children would take a pass on seeing him after their first and only encounter with the Bunny. Oh no, they wanted to go see the bunny. After 20 seconds of sitting on his/her lap, we came away $17.50 poorer with a few tiny pictures.  At least the kids enjoyed it, even though the picture was less than stellar. Oh well!
Have a wonderful Easter!
Whoo-hoo!
(I beat Mr. Daddy!)
Oops, I meant to say, Whoo-hoo – beautiful new countertops! 🙂
We did the egg dyeing last night with the kiddo.
Correction, Mommy dyed her fingers while Itty Bit broke two of the eggs and Mr. Daddy took pictures of the fiasco.
My trick for Easter is NOT to get candy that I like! But did you know that Dove now makes chocolate with ALMONDS??? *sigh* it’s a conspiracy. My poor thighs.
Mr. Daddy has a turkey in the roaster right now and the house is smelling delish. Andy excuse for that turkey recipe of his 🙂
Have a wonderful Easter! Glad to be celebrating with you, He is Risen!
O man she chains me to the kitchen then gets on the puter and plays…I see how it is..(maybe she won’t get any turkey, or fresh Salsa that I had to slave over) “she is in the kitchen right now pilfering the Salsa :o( man O man how do you get a deaf girls attention Screaming at her sure don’t work…LOL gotta go protect the turkey and Salsa..
Loved the post hope you and yours have a happy Easter… God bless
your kids are adorable.
Bummer dude: I will have to negotiate. she hid the chocolate with Almonds
Happy Easter to you too ! The eggs look great ….
Happy Easter!
I am with you, I would also be weeding out the Reese’s from the Easter Baskets.
Oh what fun!!! You are so cute… I have to tell ya, we requested the same from the Easter Bunny… please, keep a down low on the chocolate-o…;) So fun!!
Hope you had a wonderful and beautiful Easter!
Anya’s eyes in the bottom left photo crack me up!! It sounds like the kitchen renovation is moving along nicely – but not fast enough for you, I’m sure! The Easter bunny and Santa here let you take your own pictures, so that’s nice – not that we visited the bunny! Happy Easter!
I’m surprised you didn’t ask to take pictures of the kids with the bunny too. My Mom took W.W. to the mall the weekend before Easter and the last thing she was expecting was him to run up to the Easter bunny and sit down next to him and start talking. The lady at the register said if my Mom had a camera she could take some pictures. Worked out wonderfully. Kids are always full of surprises. 🙂
I wish mine had been interested in doing eggs this year. I seemed to do the majority of them…
LOL…I forget how little they are…Mall bunnies are always a rip off and a bit scary here. You were a nice momma to take them~
Love the pics…all the colors are beautiful!
Glad you had a Happy Easter…the food sounds d’lish!
🙂
Those eggs look great!!! Hope you guys had a wonderful Easter!
Sounds like you guys had a good Easter! Brandon and I are really going to try to keep Easter and Christmas focused on Christ while still allowing the kids to have a little fun – sounds like you guys have come up with a good mix. We really don’t want them looking forward to Easter every year just for the candy!!
