This past weekend we went to my hometown so I could attend the baby shower while Brian and the kids had fun at a party. It is an annual party where the neighbors get together in my old neighborhood and they make a Mulligan Stew over the fire. Then they take a hayride over to the next property (the parents) to the pumpkin patch where you can pick up a pumpkin or two.
It was actually the first year we could make it, since we usually have something going on. Normally it is the last Saturday in September, which was a beautiful day. Unfortunately, last Saturday it was a bit chilly and it was raining off and on until evening. It was really fun, though! My sister and I got back there around 5pm, so we didn’t miss out on all the festivities. We still got some of the yummy stew and later we all sat around a big bonfire.
We finally left at 9pm and I drove the 2 hr trip home. I think the kids were out within 3 or 4 miles on the road. Good thing we put them in their jammies before getting in the car. 🙂
My sister got a new puppy last Thursday, so the kids got to see her that day. Her name is Tipsy and she is a 5 month old Jack Russel Terrior. She’s the perfect size for my sister right now, and she’s a sweet little thing. She definitely knows who her mommy is!
There were also 3 puppies and 2 or 3 other older dogs at the party. Definitley a dog heaven for little kids. One of my friends got a puppy for her son, and she thought it was a lab/retriever mix. Tank looks more like a Newfoundland puppy. He is going to be HUGE.
Anya holding the smallest of the dogs. She’s such a little cutie.
Now the kids want to get a dog. *sigh* Maybe next spring…we’ll see. I’m not ready for that right now. Stress levels are high with the basement and overall unsettled life that is bringing to our household. We don’t need to up that stress factor by adding a small animal that may pee on the floor. It’s messy enough right now. 😉

Aw Stacy, there is nothing like the smell of fresh dog pee in the morning…LOL
come on the kids NEED a puppy in their life….*snicker*
We are facing the same dilemma!!! to get a puppy, or not to get a puppy…
Oh, who doesn’t love puppies!! Party sounds fun and Tipsy is adorable!

Not sure which he would whine over most… the puppy or the tractor! 🙂 (Which he would call Fergie, because Uncle Bud has a red Massey Ferguson one like that!)
I am actually really leaning toward a jack russell terrier. If not that, then a BIG dog. But Mr. Daddy is not so keen on those. Help!
Yep… I already have hunters tromping through the house with dirty boots, what’s a little pup to add to the mix? Would love to see if you guys get one after the remodeling craziness!
(Too funny that Mr. Daddy got up early to catch up on blogs!)
They both look very smitten with the dog. Sounds like an awesome party too.
Any’s not afraid of the puppy! didn’t she used to be terrified of dogs?
yeah, that’s supposed to be “Anya.” Me + late night = bad typing. 🙂
Can we get a puppy, pleeeeeease?? Oh. Tipsy is just too cute. I might be swayed if I spent some time looking at Anya’s cute face holding puppy’s cute face. Yeah, I would definitely have to give in…
First off, we have a tractor EXACTLY like the one in the last picture in this post… That is a shocker because it was my grandpa’s and is WAAAAY old and my uncle restored it.. Anyway. Thank you for stopping by my site and commenting on my nephew covering himself in spaghetti (however you found it! LOL) and inviting me to read your blog for instructions and such. From the looks of your pictures, I have a lot I can learn from you! Thanks so much.
We love our Jack. She is 13 years old and has been the perfect dog for us. That is one cute puppy!
What a precious puppy! My kids would LOVE a puppy – but, they aren’t getting one any time soon – looks like you guys found the perfect kind – one you can give back!
