A few Fridays ago I invited my friends over to show them how to make hats on the knifty knitter looms. This was all in a ruse to make them stop asking me to make hats for their children. Not that I don’t think their little munchkins are cute as the dickens, but there is only so much time for me to craft/knit/sew and I want to use that time for ME…errr, my kids. 😉
In an evening with a few appetizers and a few glasses of wine, we were all able to make a hat. I should have taken pictures of everyone’s hats, but I missed that photo op. Most were cute little baby hats, so you know they were rather adorable.
The small one below is the one I managed to make, and hopefully in the future I will know someone who is having a baby boy to give it to them. In the meantime, it will reside in my “to be gifted” stash.
I also made Kailan a few new hats for the winter, too. He lost the one I made him last year. These kept me busy during the last month of dance classes. I couldn’t hardly wait for them to stop for the summer, and apparently neither could Anya. I don’t think we will be signing her up next year, since I could hardly get her out of bed for them. I’m thinking Fall soccer will be on the agenda, and that will be much easier on us all. Probably not cheaper, though.
Here is the cute fuzziness on Anya’s hat. It will match her fuzzy scarf. I only made her one new hat since she didn’t lose the hat I made her last year. She lost it temporarily, but not permanently. This way they each have two hats that mama made them and will be able to lose one like I know they probably will.
They are now all set for the winter storms. Perhaps I should focus on making them a few things for summer, though…hmmmm?? I did get some shirts made for Kailan and a few for me. I just need to get pictures, yet. Hopefully, my sewing frenzy on Sunday will inspire me to get motivated to do more now. I have a baby gift that needs to get made for a baby shower in a few weeks.
I also got a shorts pattern cut out for me. I don’t have many shorts and don’t really wear them all that much anyways. I didn’t want to buy them, so I will attempt to make them. Wish me luck…there were LOTS of pattern pieces…and a front fly zipper. Hopefully it will turn out. It’s also white, which is a dangerous “color” for me to wear. I have faith it will all turn out in the end. 😉
I know I say this every time, but I really need to invest in a loom or just learn how to knit. The loom would probably be a better choice though. My mom did teach me how to knit many moons ago and I never really got the hang of it. Harper is taking 2.5 hours of gymnastics each week and this would help keep me sane. I wish I lived closer so that I could come over and you could teach me how to make these cute hats and drink some wine. ; )
Can’t wait to see all the products from your sewing frenzy.
You can never look to far into the future. 😉 Cute hats and good idea to try and teach others to make them. Hope they picked up on it. My forays into knitting have not looked pretty, I’ll admire yours from a distance. LOL
i want to come drink wine and make hats too! i love anya’s pink one – she is going to look great in it, too!
i also can’t wait to see the shorts pattern…that just sounds complicated!
Those hats are just darling! I hope they don’t lose either one of them! I agree with you about dance for little ones. My girls did dance from 3 – 13 and by the end they were burned out, they didn’t want to be ballerinas and I had spent a ton of money. The recitals were fun though!
Me, me, me!! I’m having a boy!! He’ll be born in November, so that would be perfect!!!!
