Last Tuesday was Anya’s recital for dance.  She was in a group of 3-5 year olds, so it couldn’t be something too structured.  They were flower fairies, and they told the story of how the flower fairies rise with the sun and go throughout their day and then curl up at night.  The music it was set to the Sugarplum Fairies song from the Nutcracker.

I was just praying that Anya’s outfit would fit her through the recital.  They ordered them in March, and it was a tight fit at that point.  It was barely big enough, but it made it.

I took her to the rehearsal on Monday afternoon, and it was a hoot watching all the kids.  They were trying pretty hard, but it was like herding cats.  They kinda knew what they were doing, but not really.  Of all the little kids, it was the one boy in one of the younger classes that seemed to be paying the most attention.

When I told Kailan there was a boy in dance, his response to me was, “Did he look funny in a tutu!?”  *snicker*  He was dressed very nicely in a shirt that matched their dresses and black pants.  No tutu. 😉

The thing I really like about Anya’s dance studio is that it is housed in a church with a lovely atmosphere.  I also didn’t feel like I was watching a burlesque review with the costume choices I have seen in some dance studios.

The families took a half day off of work to come and see Anya’s 5 minutes on stage.  We really appreciate that they came over during the week to watch the program.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and we went out for dinner afterwards at Buca’s.  It was a fun evening.

After Buca’s we came back home with our food coma’s and then the kids decided they needed to play some baseball.  Classic shot of Anya:

Of course, Kailan needed to try to hit some balls.  He did miss t-ball after all to go see his sister.

It was a good day.  A busy day, but a good day.
