Baby Boy T.
I first posted this picture here. I took this picture a scant 4 hours after his birth. The fact that he was alive was defying his doctors, who did not expect him to breathe on his own. Although small, he appeared to be a normal little man despite his medical condition. I was hoping that the fact that he was born on Easter was a good omen. Hoping so much that this was a sign that despite the breaking down in his body, he would be reborn into something more. A survivor.
He is continuing to fight the good fight, slowly growing, and at almost 3 months old he is 8 pounds 3 ounces. Unfortunately last weekend he had a visit in the hospital. He has been urinating out his bodily fluids, and the doctors believe his pituitary gland is not working properly. He’s had some seizures, and bad acid reflux to top it off. Right now he is on Xanax and Valium, with another visit this week to the doctor to determine if they can change his meds. In his short life he has gone through so many tests. Thankfully most of his time has been spent in his home with his family, and not in a sterile hospital.
Please pray for this sweet little guy. He has beaten the odds by surviving, we hope he beats them further by thriving. Good news is that his skull did not fuse, as after his brain began to get smaller the plates began to overlap each other. He is also more comfortable now that his acid reflux is getting under control with the Xanax.
Today’s Theme Thursday at Picture This is beginnings. I thought this photo encapsulated both the joy and the angst in that word.
I will as I kiss my girls today. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful picture and story!
Such a perfect photo for the theme “beginnings”!
I thought about Baby T just the other day and wondered how he’s doing. I’m glad he’s able to be home with his family.
Oh! I’m so glad to hear an update on Baby T. I have thought of him many times but have been afraid to ask, fearing bad news. He is a true miracle baby and a fighter…I will pray that he continues to defy the odds.
That’s such an inspiring picture/story. Baby T is officially added to my prayer list.
What an incredible photo, and amazing story. Thanks for sharing it since I did not know about your blog at the time.
And I see you are an ILPer! Isn’t that the greatest site! I’ve learned so much there. Do you do birth photography, or was that a friend? Such an amazing photo, I can’t say it enough!
Thank you for all the nice comments! I am going to see him this weekend, so hopefully I will get a more recent picture of the little guy. 🙂
I will pray for him too!
