Last week was spring break for school and we went…nowhere. Hey, I’m a CPA, and not only is it quarter end, but some people actually want to be able to file their taxes…on time. For some reason??
See…spring is starting to appear
This has led to at least one disgruntled blonde one (the one with the longer hair and the ever-present eyeroll). Why can’t we go on a vacation?? Well, that would require me to not have the job I currently have, and then we likely wouldn’t be able to afford one…so screwed either way, sweetheart!
The kids had a jammed packed schedule last week through their childcare program, though. After the initial hiccup of us not looking at their sheet and seeing that swimming was on Monday, that is. This was yet another time that I am glad I live and work so close together. I saw a post on Facebook for the program, “Looking forward to swimming today!”
Wait…what??
Oh crap! The kids are going to be so disappointed…they LOVE swimming.
I called their number and had to leave a message. I didn’t know when they were leaving and how much time I had. She called me back and said they left in 15 minutes.
“Okay, well I will try to get there in time”…which will require me breaking pretty much every speed limit in town.
I had little to no luck in catching the lights on green, but luckily I drive really fast and there were no cops to be seen.
I managed to get home and get to the school just as the kids were climbing into the buses. The center director grabbed their bags and told me they would be so happy now! Great! I didn’t fail as a Mom today!
The first bit of spring color
After the first day, we made sure to know what was going on for the rest of the week. They went to the play area at the big mall (apparently they couldn’t ride the roller coaster, Anya got cotton candy and didn’t share with anyone and Kai bought yet another nerf-type football), they got to watch Tangled, they went to a museum downtown and they went to one of those jumpy house places.
That sounds like a pretty fun week to me! Anya says she would rather have stayed home. There’s just no pleasing some people!
Yes…she is wearing her Easter dress and playing with dirt. She’s precocious, that is for sure!
My mother oft tells the story of me in my early years saying “Why can’t we just stay home for once? Why do we have to GO somewhere all the time????”
I obviously got over that.
Oh and don’t talk to me about taxes…our accountant is waaaaaaay overdue doing mine >:-( grrrr
