A boy butterfly
Soon enough he will have to deal with how his actions and choices define his masculinity. A moment may arise when your little boy sees a pair of purple butterfly wings, sitting cast aside. He may ask, “Are these boy wings?” with his eyes wide and innocent, hopeful you will let him wear those wonderful gossamer wings. Instead of saying, “No, these are for girls,” say, “Yes, honey, boys can wear butterfly wings.”
They are children…we need to give them wings.
We do need to give them wings. Well said. Isn’t it funn how things get defined as “boy” and “girl” with them? I’ve never been one to say “Oh, that’s for boys.” But somehow they learn it.
I’ve been treasuring these moments with Will, too, as he flaps around in high heel pumps with his little girl
friends down the street with an amazing box of dress-up clothes. I will be so sad when this moment
passes. Great keepsake shot there, Stacy!
beautiful and you are so right. great shot! 🙂
Of course boys can wear wings! Nicky had a princess sippy for forever 🙂
So true!!! I hate when I hear a parent say in a store that something their child is holding is a “girl or boy” toy!
beautifully put – in words and photos.
Adam likes to pretend to put on my make-up… I don’t stop him, he thinks he’s “pretty like mommy”- how can i say no to someone saying i am pretty??? haha.
Girl vs. boy toys/wings BAH! 🙂
Well said, my friend! They’ll encounter those unfair stereotypes soon enough…for now, jsut let them be kids.
Great photo, but a different style for you. Looks like a gaussian blur treatment, which I don’t see very often from you. Works perfectly here!
Thanks ladies and so glad everyone is giving their kids wings. 😀
