Batting can be a bit frustrating at times.  It is machine-pitched this season and the machine isn’t always accurate.  Then the coach tries to tell Kai what to do when the machine is the problem.  Then Daddy bites his tongue, so he doesn’t tell the coach that the problem isn’t with the kid.  I’m waiting for Brian to volunteer to coach one of these times, since he probably has WAY more experience in baseball than the  majority of the other Dad’s.

This Spring is turning out to be a bit of a disappointment.  It has been very rainy and cloudy with only few nice days.  Our backyard is a soggy mess and Brian can’t get through the bog to mow it.  At least everything is VERY green.

It appears that the transition from the fishtank in the house, to the pond, went rather uneventfully.  They all survived the move.  Brian went to the fish store and bought about a dozen algae eating fish for $3 each to combat the green stuff.  We haven’t seen a trace of the majority of them, since we released them.  The only ones we have seen were deceased.  Hopefully, the rest are eating algae on the bottom.  We aren’t holding out hope for that, though.

The purple Iris’ are blooming.  I wish they lasted longer than a week or so.

We need to get this girl in softball.  She loves to throw the ball back and forth during baseball.  In between innings after the kids are done at bat, she joins the boys in a round of throwing the ball to each other.  She’s the only one that catches without a glove.  I think we need to remedy that.

Lilacs in bloom.  If you can get through the bog, it smells so pretty back here.

Phlox in the evening light.

The boys were in the outfield, so Daddy joined her in throwing the ball.

Now that Memorial Day has passed…is it officially Summer?  I hope the weather starts to realize that.
