This was the weekend project.
As you can see…6 yards of mulch wasn’t enough. We went back and ordered 14 more to be delivered this week. Hopefully that will be enough. Brian is taking the day off on Friday to try to get it done before the busy weekend. Unfortunately, I can’t take that day off to help as I have to get quarterly financials done for work.
This is what is left (only right now it is all covered in landscape fabric). It goes all the way up to the front. The perimeter is all mulch and at the thinnest it is still probably 8-10 feet wide.
I do have to say that apart from me raking out the mulch, Brian did the lion’s share of the landscape fabric and hauling of mulch. He did have little helpers…occassionally.
I was inside attacking Mount Laundry on Sunday while he finished putting down the landscape fabric. (Mount Laundry has acquired epic porportions as the kids swim 4 times during the week, with their swimming lessons and field trips. That’s 8 wet towels and swimsuits on top of everything else. Ick.) Again I got no sewing done this past week, and I only got 11.2 miles in and two weight lifting sessions. That is if you don’t count the fact that I spent 2.5 hours raking mulch on Saturday and I hardly sat down all day on Sunday until dinnertime with all the cleaning and laundry I was doing.
Anya also had a playdate at a neighbor’s house on Sunday, which turned into a playdate at our house when they walked her home. The kids weren’t done playing together. It is so nice to have another little girl in the neighborhood to play with Anya. They weren’t ready to be done when Anya and I walked her home, but it was dinnertime.
That was our weekend in a nutshell. Busy!
Wow! You certainly were busy. Your yard is absolutely gorgeous (or… it will be when your mulch is complete!) I’m going to have to show my husband so he’ll see how nice it would be if we had mulch under the swing set.
: )
Wow. That is a lot of mulch. It is going to look great when it is all done though!!
Gorogeous gorgeous!! All that hard work, and you can so totally SEE the difference!! Beautiful job… has to be encouraging to know that after this coming weekend of finishing up, it’s going to look even more amazing!!
Hugs.. Amy
Looks like a lot of hard work has been done. A new coat of mulch looks wonderful, but it always turns out to be more than you thought! Keith just put up our new playset this past week. We debated mulch or pea rock and he decided on pea rock (its his back, not mine). Yup, they dumped it yesterday……Right in the middle of our driveway. Its gonna be a long day tomorrow!
Loving the look of the yard. Wish I could get inspired on ours….
