Apparently we have reached that age whereby clothes must be cool. At least for Anya. Kailan is a boy, and thusly, really doesn’t care.
She said this outfit was in the “cool” category.
The pants are made from a stretch twill with burgundy taffeta used for the flower appliques. I made the appliques from ironing Heat n’ Bond and then drew the flowers. I made pleated back pockets, too.
The shirt is a faux cross-over shirt, and at some point I will get a tutorial together for how to make a pattern for it.
I wasn’t sure if she would like these pants, so I’m heartened by the fact that she called it “cool”. I needed pants to match the shirt (we live in Matchy-Matchy Town here), and I needed to make sure they were a bit fancy enough. This olive green was the only thing I had that was a good bottom weight fabric that matched the colors in the top. I’m very glad I was able to find a matching applique fabric, too. I didn’t think she would like it, though. I mean it is olive green…a boy color.
I’m rather surprised I didn’t need to talk her into the fact that it was, indeed, COOL.
More to come…
This is a very grown up outfit! I love the olive green with burgundy…my fave…You realise there is going to be a time coming soon where your clothes may just not be quite cool enough, don’t you? But I suspect she will grow out of it and rediscover the joys of original designs when she is older. :-)I can’t make anything fr the BA ‘on spec’. She has to choose all the colours, patterns and materials. The Vanuatu skirts were an exception because she knew she’d never wear them again after she got back. *sigh* 🙂
What a great grown-up outfit, you did a fantastic job.
Stacy, that outfit is awesome! I wish I had one in my size! I really can’t get over how grown up Anya is…turning into such a big girl so quickly!
Well, I definitely think it is a cool outfit!!
