It’s that time of year again…time to resolve. I finally got my list done. Generally, my resolutions begin with faith and earnestness and end up being put on the back burner about 2 weeks after the year has started. I am hoping to be a good girl and try to have them as goals rather, and keep at least some of these items.
- Lose some weight since I am dangerously close to going up a size in clothing. How depressing. There is a reason we bought that Bowflex and gym quality elliptical machine, and it certainly wasn’t so the kids could play on them in the basement.
- Keep on top of my scrapbooking, so I can catch up and stay current.
- Keep plugging away at my photography and learn how to take better pictures of people other than my children. I really need to learn how to pose better. This is null and void when working with children, but at least adults somewhat listen to me. Still no plans to go into business this year. Maybe someday, but I don’t have time right now, and financially it isn’t a good idea.
- Learn how to use my new serger :D. This is pretty much a gimmee, as I’m excited to work with it.
- Try not to take on too many projects at once. I do this all the time, as you can imagine. All my projects that I work on are pretty much the reason why my exercising is non-existent. I need to have a better balance, since I do feel better when I can get on the elliptical. Too many projects + no exercise = stressed out mommy.
- Cook healthier and get our kids to eat more veggies. This ties into #1. Also, keep using my binder with my weekly recipe list. I actually did this again on New Year’s Day, and this helps my stress level immensely. I hate leaving work at 5:30 pm and having no idea what I’m making for dinner. What’s even better is having a crockpot all set to plop in the heater before work in the morning, so I have nothing to do when I get home. It is also nice to use some different recipes and have some variety in our meals.
- Love my kids and hubby and give them hugs and kisses all the time. Just thought I would throw another gimmee in there. 😉
- Try to control my spending. I tend to buy alot of clothes and shoes…both for myself and the kids. I really wouldn’t have to buy anything new if I didn’t have to worry about hiding my expanding bellyfat. So really, if I keep to #1 and #6, then I should be able to keep to #8…sorta. I do like me those CAbi clothes. Of course, this is all after I buy a new vehicle…my Pathfinder is starting to turn on me.
- Take a vacation! We haven’t been on vacation since Kai was 6 months old, so for our 10th anniversary this May we want to take a trip to Europe, where we have never been. We will miss the urchins, but they will get some good quality time with the family while we are gone.
- Enjoy the new year with less stress and more playtime with the kids and the hubby. Try to get out more and do fun things, instead of just staying home. When we can that is…we seem to have a pretty full social calendar usually. Sucks to be popular! We always make a point to do things with our friends, but we know so many people that it is hard to fit everything and everyone into the calendar. We need to do more fun things that the kids would enjoy though. They don’t really enjoy going out to dinner as much as we do…since they don’t really like to eat all that much.
Well, that’s about all I can think of right now. That’s enough, though. Hopefully, I can keep to this list of goals and maybe do a monthly check to make sure I am mindful of them. Another thing for the to do list…be accountable! 😉
Vacation is my one resolution for the year. But I should probably work on that eat healthy/lose some weight thing, too, because I am also getting uncomfortable in my clothes…
I think the vacation is a great idea! And I think you have to throw in some “gimmees” or else they just become too much work, and um…we all know what happens when it is too much work…they just get pushed to the side when time gets too tight.
good luck, Stacy! i can’t wait to see some of the fruits of your hard work!
That is quite a list! I’m glad to see #5 there, to help keep everything in balance. We are hoping to do a vacation this year, too. Good luck to you!
I think I am doing well so far…I got on the elliptical TWICE last week! 😉 At least I’m starting…
The cooking light aspect, I really need to work on. I guess I like food way too much.
OHHH a serger – I just got one for Christmas too – I have NO idea how to even start, but am excited. LOL Though scared, I dont want to break anything! 😀
Wow, I agree that is some list. Especially as I haven’t been able to keep a resolution yet, and when I saw choose a word for the New Year over at Mamma Zen I took that route instead. 🙂
Good luck with trying not to tackle too many projects all at once. Although more playtime sounds like an excellent idea. 🙂
