Grateful for pets…even when they pass away.  They are great teachers of the “circle of life”.  This was Porky, may he rest in peace.  He was so named due to his love of food and his capacity to consume it.  He seemed to like humans well enough, and was much like a dog in his pavlovian response to the fish food can being shook above him.  This would have been his 3rd summer with our family, but alas…I found him floating in the fish tank one night last week.  Kailan cried when Daddy told him the next morning.  We buried him in the backyard when everyone got home that night.  Kailan made a tombstone for him, and I said some words…sort of a prayer…over his little resting place under the tree.  We promised Kailan a new fish once all the rest of them were put back into the pond.

This week I am also grateful for…

– Being done with the 2011 book of our family photos.  Now I just need to order it!

– The warm spring.  Oh, how I love this warm spring!

– Playdates.  On Saturday Anya went over to neighbor L.’s house, while Kailan had a little friend over.  He was that kid from his birthday party, and he acted quite sane and not psychotic at all!  The kids all had a good time and were able to spend some quality playing time with their little friends.
