My brother-in-law grows dahlias, and has many different varieties…as opposed to our one variety. They are his pride and joy, and he has won ribbons at the county fair the last few years for his beautiful flowers. Last year he won grand champion with his pompom dahlia. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take pictures of his beautiful flowers before the frost gets them. Pretty aren’t they??
Growing Dahlia’s is a bit of a pain in the great white frigid north. They are annuals up here, so each Fall you have to wait for the first hard frost to send them into hibernation and then dig them up and store in the basement over the winter. They are high maintenance plants, but so pretty if they survive storing for the winter.
These are some of our favorites. Hate to say it, but they are pretty darn easy to grow here in the Pacific Northwest. We don’t bother digging them up and they cheerfully come back every year. So easy to smile when you see them!
Oooooh, they are GORGEOUS! Wow! Love your sunflare, too.
They are stunning! I love the color of the 2nd one and the sunflare is awesome!
WOW, what gorgeous pictures, I love them colors, just coming by to say Hi.
Wow — those are GORGEOUS! Such vibrant colors!
gorgeous, stacy!
so beautiful!
I love the ones with the sun burst in the background. Adds such wonderful light to the flowers and makes them seem so dramatic. I like the two tones in the first one. Congrats to growing such lovely creations!
I love Dahlia’s. The last one with the sun shining through it is beautiful. Glad you didnt miss the chance to shoot them.
WOW! love the sun flare shot. really nice.

the flowers are beautiful, the flare is AWESOME!
And, frost? Now? We won’t have frost for more than a month…probably two!
Some of your best work- I think. Sounds like a lot of work for a beautiful flower, they must have older or no kids at home.
The third one is my fave…
Just Gorgeous! I had no idea they were so hard to tend to. Can you tell I don’t have a green thumb?
Awesome sunflare in that last one! I can’t even imagine having flowers like that in my yard….wow!!! My husband calls me the plant killer!
Your pictures are beautiful!
I miss these! They came up one year for me and then didn’t come up again! 🙁
