Even though I have plenty of fabric and trims…I can always find something pretty to buy when I go fabric shopping. I will walk into the store with a few items I may need in the back of my mind. While inside I will walk down the aisles and feel the fabric. I’ll envision a dress out of this piece, maybe a purse out of this…oh, and that would make a lovely skirt for me! Ideas for future projects dance in front of my eyes.
I think if I had a proper sewing room, I wouldn’t buy so much fabric. I forget what I have when the fabric is stuffed in a tote instead of nicely folded on a shelf. One of these days our dream of a finished basement will come to fruition. I make my plans for a sewing room/guest room with storage and space to work. It will have a murphy bed for those occasions when we have guests, so it will be a wonderfully functional room. Brian makes plans for the wine cellar of his dreams, of course.
I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the bead trims here (purses perhaps?), but the pink trims will certainly adorn some pretty TWIRLY (very important!) dresses for summer. Anya has decided that she now likes to wear dresses, so she has taken to wearing all her summer dresses right now. They work quite well with a long-sleeved top and leggings, to keep her warm.
Now, I just need a week or so of free time to get sewing done for summer. I’m very happy that was able to make a lot of Anya’s clothes for this winter, so that is my plan for her summer wardrobe. I also want to make a few items for Kailan, too. The only thing I really won’t make is jeans. I’m not a huge fan of making anything with zippers.
There is always some sort of “project” the lil ones are working on, too. Getting them to clean up after they are done? That is the challenge!

Oh I would so love to learn to sow…. that is one of my things to learn this year… How wonderful that you can make such adorable clothes for your kids, Stacey! Seriously! Really wonderful! And then you can teach you kids this art too… Do homeschool them?
Hmmm, let’s see.. no projects for us right now… I am a bit disabled in the creativity dept. , but I am eager to learn. My daughter and I are going to learn to crochet, starting next week! So that will be fun!

That’s exciting she wants to wear dresses now. I still don’t like dresses. My mom used to sew me the cutest little dresses when I was little for piano recitals and easter but I just never thought they were as cute as she did. 🙂 Of course 25 years later I like seeing the pictures and wish maybe I should have been a little less of a tom boy. Maybe.

Your dress comment reminded me of one of my mom’s favorite stories…
I grew up in California and had a deep tan, dimples, and a head full of big blonde curls – and loved all things girly. I wore dresses to school everyday and the fateful day my mother suggested pants… well, I had a meltdown. They had lace and pink trim, etc. My mother had already done my hair in french braids with ribbons, I had a pink ruffled top on, but the pants… oh the horror! I was inconsolable and wailed, “but they’ll think I’m a BOOOOOOOOY!”
Then I did my stint with some scholarship pageants and swore off of dresses and heels for the rest of my life. My redneck husband talked me into them once more on our wedding day – then it was off to the farm for jeans! 🙂

That first picture just says “dessert” to me! The trims look delicious, like some kind of layer cake with a great big frosting flower! And boy do I know about that second picture… we’re working on that now 🙂

I thought about taking a picture of my PILES of materials that need to be organized, but didn’t want to scare anyone. Oh, I dream of a sweing/craft room will shelves and storage and crafy decorations. I guess my nook in the garage will have to do for now.
Our kids love Don’t Break the Ice. They got it for Christmas. Like you we always have many kid related “projects” around our house.

You are so talented, Stacy. My mom is an avid sewer/quilter/knitter, etc. and I can’t do any of those things! She had high hope at one time that I’d get into it, but it hasn’t occurred yet. I’d much rather be scrapbooking or taking photographs. Maybe someday, but I doubt it. She too, always goes into random little fabric shops and buy pieces…just because. She has tubs and tubs of fabric, hoping to find the time to start some of her projects. I am the same way, except my tubs are filled with scrapbook paper, scissor, rubber stamps. Anyway, this week I shared a project that my husband completed for me just before Christmas.

Oh wow, what a flashback, I haven’t thought of that (CLASSIC) game for YEARS! It makes me want to play. But your projects? WAY over my talent level.
Oh, to have some of that talent! I look forward to seeing what you make. My project has been a quiet small one…no need to post. I have been deleting, deleting and you guessed it….deleting pictures on the computer. I am only about a quarter of the way done and I originally wanted to be finished by Feb 1st. We are going to D-land on Sat but maybe while the big game is on….
The basement being finished is SO BIG! We just got ours done a year ago after living in our house for 8 years. I get a kick out of your husband having his wine cellar…Keith always thought he would have a bar in the back of our family room. He even went as far to set up the can lights that way in our ceiling. Do we have a bar in our family room? Nope. Just a set of 3 can lights nestled closely together in the ceiling to remind him of what he doesnt have. :o)
