I planted this pretty iris in the Fall of 2007. A few came up last summer, but no blooms arrived. One of them finally bloomed this week, though. It has 3 pretty buds right now, and they are big and beautiful. Hopefully it will propagate itself and fill this area with a few more of it’s babies. I’d love to have more of these beautiful flowers. They are a lot taller and with bigger blooms than our other iris plants.
I took this shot Monday morning when I saw that it had opened up over the weekend when we were gone. Love that morning sun. By the time I came home it had tipped over under the weight of it’s blooms, so I staked it back up. There are two more buds on it that can flower yet. Pretty soon our Asian Lilies will be blooming…except for the one that the bunny ate.
i’d say they were well worth the wait ! they are STUNNING !
I know! I LOVE this one. I really, really hope that more will come next year. I should have put my hand next to it so you could see the size of them, too. I think they are about twice the size of our yellow iris plants.
2007??!! Whoa! That is absolutely gorgeous! So so sorry that you didn’t get to enjoy those gorgeous buds a little longer!
Just beautiful! Love your garden pics! Love them all! It’s getting too hot here, so all mine are dying already!
So neat to see everything blooming in your neck of the woods, my friend!
Hugs.. Amy
Yes, worth the wait indeed! We’ve had some tipsy blooms too. Husband is on stake duty.
Beautiful! I think the last shot is my favorite! Glad all of that waiting finally paid off!
Just gorgeous! My black thumb of death is currently experiencing major envy of your amazing green thumb!
So pretty! Irises are full of memories foe me since they grew in my childhood home’s garden.
so glad the bunnies spared this one! it is beautiful!
Oh that’s a beauty. Unusual flower though. Frillier than usual! Very lovely.
Oh, these turned out great! The same thing happened with my Iris’. It took them THREE years to get a bloom
They are sooo pretty. I bet they wouldn’t do well down here. All the beautiful stuff would just die of heat exhaustion.
What a great surprise for you this year. They are so beautiful. Great bokeh too!
Lovely shots. My Mom brought a bunch of iris bulbs down from Seattle for me to plant. I couple bloomed and then the dogs got in my flower bed, then the horses got in my flower bed, and now I’m betting I wont’ have any more blooms until next year. My husband has since put chicken wire around my flower bed to keep all the big critters out. 😉
