I’ve been a bit tired lately, and my hair has just been one more thing that has seemed to weigh me down. It feels like it is time for a change. I’ve had long hair for quite awhile, even after the last big cut. It was two years ago that I cut off 12 inches for Locks of Love. I was surprised at how much I liked my shorter hair last time. I had identified myself for so long with my exceedingly long and healthy hair. It was so nice to get compliments on it by strangers out of the blue. That sort of thing gives you a nice emotional lift in your day.
It was nice to have a bit of change, though, so I’m ready for that again. It was at a decent length, but not long enough to lose a whole foot of hair. This time I am donating to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths program. They will take minimum lengths of 8 inches, so that works for me. This is a program for women with cancer and uses the hair for free wigs. After seeing how hard it was on my friend when she lost her hair during breast cancer treatment, I know this is such a worthy cause.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so the timing works perfectly! Remember to feel your boobies, ladies!
I loved my long hair, but I’m just ready to make a change. It has been long for 10+ years and at times it is a hard to take care of it. It wasn’t so bad when my hair was stick straight, but it started to get a wave in it around the time I turned 30. It gets snarly so easy now, whereas it wasn’t like that before. Additionally, in our (cold) winters I don’t have time to blow dry it (20-30 minutes), so I often go outside with wet hair. Not fun. I like the bit of wavy curl I have now, and the longer it gets the less wave I have from the weight of the hair.
I know I will grow out long again. That’s the good thing about hair…it will always grow back!
new cut
O my goodness!!!! Wow wow wow!! Stacy, what an amazing gift to a beautiful red head that is walking through treatment!
Seriously HUGE! I have a friend that has breast cancer, and she is a red head.. the only person that has the same red that she has is her little niece. So her little niece, on her own accord, cut her very very long hair so that her Auntie Noelle could have a head of gorgeous red hair again!
Such a gift that you are giving some precious woman!
Love that!
come over to my blog girl! I left something for ya! hugs and loves…
Amy
Oooh, I LOVE it! I wish I had patience to grow out my hair. Your new do looks so healthy and shiny! And what a wonderful gift to give your hair. Thanks for the booby reminder!
I just can’t believe that it’s already been two years! Your hair is gorgeous. They will love it. And I love your new cut.
What a great cause and someone will be very lucky to get your hair. You really do have beautiful hair at every length.
How cool that you donated to Pantene! I did it a year ago and I’m slowly growing my hair back to do it again. It is such a beautiful thing to help a woman regain her confidence and your hair looks great!
Has it really been two years already?! wow, your hair grows fast. I’ve decided I’m done with short hair, and I just want my hair to be long enough for a ponytail already! Somewhat ironic to me that your “short” hair is so much longer than what I have now. 🙂 Love it that you are donating it again, that is awesome. And you really do have gorgeous hair no matter how it’s cut! Is that incredible color natural?
Wonderful gift and your hair is so gorgeous.
Sigh… you are such a natural beauty – I am certain Amy is absolutely right – some redhead patient is going to be thrilled to have your gorgeous locks!
And golly… that last picture of you – there is no doubt Anya belongs to you! 🙂
Amy said everything I was going to say except…how much Anya looks like YOU! I hadn’t quite seen it before but in that second photo…oh boy! You have such amazing hair and the new do is clean and elegant. What an inspiring post. Hope you’re feeling less tired as a result.
I can’t believe it has been 2 yrs…it seems like you just posted about getting it cut. Some lady will be very very happy to get your beautiful hair!
Wow Stacy, I remember when you cut your hair last time … has it really been that long already ?! Your hair is beautiful … long or not as long (it’s still long …) ! Isn’t it funny how different we can feel just with a hair style change ? I’ve done super long and super short and while I like both styles, I always feel a bit funny when it’s super short. ANYWAY … what an amazing gift you have given to a woman who has lost her hair ! Good on ya girl !!
How lovely–the photos and the kindness of your selfless act. Thank you for sharing it! (I like your new cut too–looks very fresh and happy!)
I love it! The new cut is so fabulous and the thought that someone is going to have your lovely hair on their head instead of a scarf? That is even better! My friend is fighting BC right now and my mom has beaten it, so it makes me especially proud of you, Stacy! You are wonderful.
Now…give me hints on HOW to make mine grow!! I get so frustrated with it and then just cut it before it even gets to my shoulders!
I love the new ‘do! Your hair is beautiful long, but I love the length you cut it to. It really suits your face.
Nice! For the past few weeks I have been thinking of doing just this. I love my hair long, but it’s becoming a big of a bother. It doesn’t get cold here, but it gets hot. And it’s hot right now and long hair only makes me hotter.
Thanks so much everyone! 🙂
Awesome, Stacy! It looks great too!
