Apparently we have reached that age whereby clothes must be cool.  At least for Anya.  Kailan is a boy, and thusly, really doesn’t care.

She said this outfit was in the “cool” category.

The pants are made from a stretch twill with burgundy taffeta used for the flower appliques.  I made the appliques from ironing Heat n’ Bond and then drew the flowers.  I made pleated back pockets, too.

The shirt is a faux cross-over shirt, and at some point I will get a tutorial together for how to make a pattern for it.

I wasn’t sure if she would like these pants, so I’m heartened by the fact that she called it “cool”.  I needed pants to match the shirt (we live in Matchy-Matchy Town here), and I needed to make sure they were a bit fancy enough.  This olive green was the only thing I had that was a good bottom weight fabric that matched the colors in the top.  I’m very glad I was able to find a matching applique fabric, too.  I didn’t think she would like it, though.  I mean it is olive greena boy color.

I’m rather surprised I didn’t need to talk her into the fact that it was, indeed, COOL.

More to come…
