When I saw this dress in the CWD Kids magazine, I thought it would be a great summer dress for her. She even agreed!
It is a mix of knit and woven, so I have a placket on the back. The neck binding is woven, and I figured that it needed extra give on the neck. The skirt is pretty twirly, as I used up two packages of binding on it. I made the skirt fairly wide as I wanted to make sure it would fit over her head. This meant the waist had to have elastic in it to bring the skirt in and make it fitted. I think the skirt on the inspiration skirt is probably knit, so I’m sure they did it differently.
The “flower” is a yoyo made from the center of the circle skirt with some type of synthetic embossed fabric over the top. I think we got the fabric in a gift of some sort as decoration, so I washed it and saved it. Figured I would be able to use it eventually. It is removable.
This is another bathing suit for the girl. She chose, oh, about twently or so swimsuits in that magazine. This was one of them. I already had this fabric (for me), so I made her this cute little suit. Swimming lessons start again in a few weeks, so she will be all ready!
Now…what to sew next??
Maybe something for me…
You have really been churning out the sewing projects. Both the dress and swimsuit are adorable : )
I personally think your dress looks nicer than the one in the mag. The fuller skirt really makes it! And I’ve always loved little skirts on bathers <3
